Pressure filter family built to the DIN 24550 standard
The Hydac DFN is an inline filter made to DIN 24550, so its elements and port pattern follow a common standard rather than a house dimension. One datasheet covers four related types: DFN for pressure lines up to 400 bar, DFNF for flow in both directions, and LFN and LFNF for low-pressure lines up to 100 bar.
Flow is listed up to 350 l/min. The DFN head is ductile iron with a steel bowl; the LFN versions use aluminium for the head and, on sizes 40 and 63, the bowl.

Which DFN type to order
Choose by pressure first. The LFN and LFNF bodies are lighter aluminium units for return and low-pressure lines at 100 bar. DFN and DFNF handle 400 bar on sizes 40, 63, 100 and 250 (210 bar on 160 and 400). Where the oil direction reverses, pick the F version, since DFNF and LFNF are suitable for flow in both directions.
The model code example is DFN BN/HC 250 S F 10 D 1 .X /-L24. After the type come the element material, size, pressure letter (I = 100 bar, L = 210 bar, S = 400 bar), connection letter, micron rating, indicator letter and a type code (1 for DFN or DFNF, 2 for LFN or LFNF). Indicator choices run from plug (Y or A) and visual (B) to electrical (C), visual with electrical (D) and the visual-mechanical LZ type.
Options and ordering details
Supplementary details include a bypass cracking pressure (B7 for 7 bar), lamp voltage or LED, FPM seals, HFA and HFC emulsion suitability and, for DFN and DFNF 40, 63 and 100, an inlet and outlet of G1/2 without the indicator connection (SO368). Several LZ plug variants are offered for vehicle-style connectors.
The replacement element is coded as, for example, 0250 DN 010 BN4HC. Mineral oils, lubricants, compressor oils, biodegradable fluids and HFA to HFD fluids are listed as compatible, with high-water fluids on request. Earthing of the housing is required. Quote the full nameplate code so the pressure class and port type are not guessed.

About brand
Hydraulic power units around the world carry Hydac parts: accumulators, filters, coolers, valves and the sensors that watch pressure and temperature.
