EWM Phoenix XQ 500 puls D Pulse MIG/MAG Welding Machine
Description
Decompact pulse MIG/MAG power source rated to 500 A
The EWM Phoenix XQ 500 puls D is a decompact multi-process welding machine: the power source stands on its trolley and feeds a separate Drive XQ wire feeder through an intermediate hose package. It sits in the middle of the EWM XQ family, between the fully equipped Titan XQ puls and the non-pulse Taurus XQ Synergic, and shares their housing, ratings and accessories.
EWM includes the following welding processes in the Phoenix XQ puls without extra licences: rootArc XQ and rootArc puls XQ for root passes, forceArc XQ and forceArc puls XQ for a concentrated, deep-penetrating arc, standard MIG/MAG, pulse welding, Positionweld for aluminium, superPuls, TIG, MMA and gouging. Welding characteristics are pre-programmed for unalloyed to high-alloy steels and aluminium.

Wire feeders, controls and options
The standard Drive XQ feeder weighs about 13 kg without spool and fits through manholes, while the Drive XQ IC 200 (10 kg, D200 spools) is intended for shipyards and confined spaces. EWM offers the Expert XQ 2.0 control with LCD display and click wheel, with LAN or LAN/Wi-Fi gateway variants for ewm Xnet, as well as HP-XQ and LP-XQ controls. Options listed in the brochure include electronic gas flow control, wire spool heating and a wire reserve sensor.
The housing has four crane eyes, an LED status bar and an integrated water-cooling circuit with a 1,500 W centrifugal pump and 8-litre tank for water-cooled torches.
When the decompact Phoenix XQ is the right choice
A decompact set is chosen when the arc must be far from the power source, for example on large weldments, ship blocks or scaffolding. The 500 A size suits heavy fillet and multi-pass welds with 1.2 mm and larger wires. If coldArc for thin sheet or wiredArc penetration control is needed, the EWM Titan XQ 400 puls D class is the better match.

About brand
EWM is a German manufacturer of arc welding equipment, founded in 1957 and headquartered in Mündersbach in the Westerwald region. Its range covers MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA power sources, welding torches, consumables and automation, supported by the ewm Xnet welding management software. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists the EWM Titan XQ 400 puls D multi-process MIG/MAG machine.
EWM product groups
The manual welding program includes the Titan XQ, Phoenix and Taurus MIG/MAG families, TIG and electrode machines, wire feeders and torches. EWM also offers cobot and robot welding systems, welding consumables and accessories. The headquarters houses research and development, production and quality assurance across three plants, with further factories in China and the Czech Republic.
Ordering EWM equipment: what we need
Give the full machine designation, including compact or decompact version and gas or water cooling, plus the mains voltage at site. List the wire feeder, interconnection hose package length, torch and any remote control you need. For a replacement unit, send a photo of the rating plate. We check the configuration against EWM documentation before quoting.

Frequently Asked Questions
D is the decompact version: the power source works with a separate Drive XQ wire feeder connected through an intermediate hose package.
EWM rates it at 500 A at 80% and 470 A at 100% duty cycle at 40 °C ambient.
Both share the same housings and ratings, but Titan XQ adds coldArc and wiredArc, while Phoenix XQ covers rootArc, forceArc, pulse, Positionweld, superPuls, TIG, MMA and gouging.
3 x 400 V (-25% to +20%), 3 x 460 V (-25% to +15%) or 3 x 500 V (-25% to +10%) at 50/60 Hz.
EWM states intermediate hose packages between power source and wire feeder of up to 60 m for decompact machines.
