Description

Overview

The OMNI 3000/6000 flow computer series is a powerful, flexible, and certified metering solution designed for precise measurement of both liquid and gas. It combines robust hardware with secure, factory-programmed software for demanding pipeline systems and custody transfer applications.

The OMNI 3000 model is typically used for a single liquid meter run or two gas meter runs, while the OMNI 6000 extends capability to four meter runs, making the series ideal for scalable projects.

Engineering & Design

Whether measuring hydrocarbon gas or liquid, and using metric or US customary units, the OMNI 3000/6000 Series ensures accurate and traceable results in compliance with API, ISO, AGA, and OIML standards. The proven algorithms of the OMNI platform deliver the measurement repeatability that custody transfer requires.

Enhanced versions (3000E/6000E) deliver improved cyber-security, advanced auditing, and alarm functionalities. One-second power-up recovery reduces downtime, and the long-term reliability of the platform offers a lower total cost of ownership.

Metering stations need flexible certified computers, and the OMNI 3000/6000 flow computer provides the platform, which is why Seven Star LLC supplies the OMNI 3000/6000 flow computer for metering projects.

For metering stations, the OMNI 3000/6000 flow computer is the certified platform, and Seven Star LLC supplies the OMNI 3000/6000 flow computer with configuration support. The OMNI 3000/6000 flow computer covers up to 4 meter runs.

OMNI 3000 vs OMNI 6000: Module Capacity and Communication Ports

The two models share the same front panel, firmware and module range and differ in chassis depth and slot count. OMNI describes the 3000 as a unit for a single liquid meter run or perhaps two gas runs: it takes two combo I/O modules, one 12-channel digital I/O module and one communications module. The 6000 takes six combo modules for up to 24 input signals, two digital I/O modules for 24 configurable digital points and up to three communications modules, and is intended for up to four meter runs.

Combo modules are chosen by signal mix. Types A, B, E and E/D each provide four inputs that accept 4-20 mA, 1-5 V, four-wire RTD, meter pulse or densitometer frequency depending on type, with two 4-20 mA outputs (one on type B). Type E adds dual-pulse inputs with Level A fidelity checking and double chronometry for compact provers. HT and HM modules provide four HART networks each, H and HV modules serve Honeywell DE transmitters, and SV modules give two serial links to ultrasonic meters or multivariable transmitters.

Up to ten communication ports can be fitted, made up of at most eight RS-232/485 ports and two Ethernet ports. Each serial module has two independent ports and each Ethernet port supports eight concurrent sockets with password, MAC address or IP address security. Supported protocols include Modbus ASCII and RTU as master or slave, Modbus/TCP, encapsulated Modbus, peer-to-peer and Allen-Bradley full and half duplex. Installation styles are panel mount, panel mount with extended back panel, NEMA-ready chassis and complete NEMA 4 or 4X enclosures, all AC or DC powered.

OMNI 3000/6000 Application Firmware, Calculation Standards and Electrical Data

Firmware is selected by unit system, fluid and meter type rather than programmed. For liquid turbine, PD, ultrasonic and Coriolis meters with K-factor linearization OMNI lists revision 20 (US units) and 24 (metric); with meter-factor linearization, revisions 22 and 26; and for gas with orifice, venturi, cone, nozzle, turbine, ultrasonic or Coriolis meters, revisions 23 and 27. The calculation cycle is fixed at 500 ms and all calculations use 64-bit double precision. Totals are held in triplicated registers.

The listed gas methods include AGA3, AGA5, AGA7, AGA8, AGA10, AGA11, modified AGA NX-19, GPA 2172, ISO 5167, ISO 6976, ISO 12213-3 and S-GERG. Liquid methods include ASTM D1250 (1952) tables, API MPMS 11.1 (1980 and 2004-2007), API 11.2.1 and 11.2.2 with metric versions, GPA TP15 and TP27, ASTM D1550 and ASTM D1555. The unit runs from 90 to 264 VAC or 22 to 26 VDC, drawing 10 to 35 W including transducer loops, and operates from -10 to +60 °C in a safe electrical area.

About brand
In liquid and gas metering, the name OMNI means one thing: the flow computer in the metering panel. OMNI Flow Computers is based in Sugar Land, USA, and builds panel-mounted flow computers that turn meter pulses, pressure, temperature and density into the corrected volumes used for custody transfer. Seven Star LLC lists OMNI flow computers and supplies them to metering system owners and integrators in Oman, matched to the existing configuration.

OMNI flow computer series listed here

Two generations are on this page. The OMNI 3000 and 6000 are the long-established series found in a great many metering stations; the 6000 is the larger chassis with more I/O capacity. The OMNI 4000 and 7000 are the current generation, with the 7000 as the larger unit, and both the 6000 and the 7000 are listed in the version with operator display.

Ordering an OMNI flow computer: what we need

An OMNI is defined by more than its model number. Send the model, the serial number, the firmware application and revision, and the list of I/O and communication modules fitted in the chassis. Add the number of meter runs, the meter type, the product measured and the supply voltage. With that we can check a replacement or a move to the newer series against OMNI documentation. Metering stations in the GCC usually need the configuration report as well.
