Brand: Cameron NuFlo
Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy Flow Totalizer
Description
Overview
The Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy is the newest digital flow totalizer in the NuFlo turbine meter electronics family, now manufactured by Sensia under the NUFLO name. Typically mounted directly on a liquid turbine flowmeter, it senses the pulse frequency from the meter pickup, calculates flow rate and accumulated total, displays both locally and transmits them to SCADA or automation systems. Compared with earlier totalizers it adds fast wireless configuration, improved measurement accuracy through 12-point linearisation, flexible communications, predictive diagnostics and condition-based monitoring of the turbine meter itself. It is optimised for Sensia liquid turbine meters but accepts any device that outputs a sine wave, a pulse or a contact closure.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy to oil producers, water injection operators, chemical injection skid builders and water utilities across Oman and the GCC. From Muscat we help choose between the explosion-proof EXP and weatherproof WP versions, select HART or Ethernet options and plan migration from installed MC-II and MC-III totalizers.
Operating Principle
A turbine meter rotor spins at a speed proportional to flow, and a magnetic pickup produces a low-level sine wave as each blade passes. The Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy reads this raw signal at a selectable sensitivity of 20, 50 or 100 mV peak to peak over a frequency range of 0 to 5000 Hz, or reads an amplified pulse or contact closure instead. It divides frequency by the meter K-factor to obtain volumetric flow rate and integrates over time for the total. Because no turbine meter is perfectly linear, the totalizer can apply up to 12 calibration points for K-factor and a further 12 points for meter factor, matching the multi-point flow calibration that Sensia performs on every turbine meter and internals kit.
The Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy diagnostic engine samples and analyses a large number of waveforms from the pickup to detect anomalies such as electrical noise, a bent blade or a missing blade. Alarm thresholds are set automatically when the unit is programmed wirelessly from the QR code of a genuine NuFlo or Barton meter or internals kit. Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy alarms can be latching or non-latching, routed to the display, to Modbus and HART registers, to a digital status output and to the alarm log, so problems are found quickly instead of waiting for a time-based service visit.
Engineering Design of the Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy
Two versions are offered. The Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy EXP has a cast aluminium housing with less than 0.05 percent copper, painted with epoxy and polyurethane, with a 316 stainless steel option for offshore service. It is CSA approved explosion-proof for Class I, Division 1, Groups B, C, D, T6, and ATEX / IECEx certified Ex db IIB+H2 T6 Gb and Ex tb IIIC T85 degC Db with IP66. Its capacitive keys work through the glass, so the unit can be programmed under power in a hazardous area without opening the cover. The WP version uses a fibreglass polyester enclosure with a polycarbonate window, carries Class I, Division 2 approval and gives unrestricted access to keypad and battery. Both weigh about 2.2 kg (4.75 lb).
The Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy LCD shows an 8-digit total and a 6-digit rate, and up to 8 parameters chosen from 39. Two isolated digital outputs rated 60 mA at 27 VDC can be assigned as amplified frequency output, scaled volumetric pulse, alarm status or Modbus controlled output. Dual RS485 Modbus ports are standard, and one expansion slot accepts either a loop-powered 4-20 mA analog output with HART or an Ethernet board with Modbus TCP and Modbus over TCP. A real-time clock accurate to 3.5 ppm is backed by a coin cell, and logs hold 384 daily, 768 interval, 768 event and 768 alarm records.

Industrial Applications
Turbine meters remain a foundation technology in oil and gas because of their accuracy, rangeability and low cost. In Oman the Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy is suited to water injection wells, produced water disposal, chemical injection metering, crude and condensate transfer, and allocation measurement where a robust, battery-powered device must record data reliably at remote sites. Its health test monitoring helps operators detect worn bearings or damaged rotors before measurement drifts, which reduces site visits across large desert concessions.
Water utilities and industrial plants in the Sohar, Duqm and Salalah areas can also use the Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy as a local totalizer and transmitter for turbine meters on treated water, cooling water and fuel oil lines. Seven Star LLC supplies the Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy with suitable NuFlo turbine meters and spare internals kits, and our Muscat engineers help GCC customers configure Modbus, HART or Ethernet integration.

About brand
NuFlo is an oilfield flow measurement name found on turbine flowmeters and on the readout instruments that total their output at the wellsite. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists the Cameron NuFlo MC-III EXP local flow analyzer and totalizer and a 3-inch ANSI 150 liquid turbine flowmeter assembly, and sources NuFlo meters, pickups and spare parts by part number.
Cameron NuFlo products listed here
A liquid turbine flowmeter has a rotor that spins in proportion to flow, and a magnetic pickup on the body turns each blade pass into a pulse. The MC-III EXP is the instrument that receives those pulses, applies the meter's calibration factor and shows flow rate and accumulated total at the meter. It is an explosion-proof totalizer for gas or liquid turbine meters with 4-20 mA and pulse outputs, sold today under the Sensia name. Meter and analyzer are usually bought as a pair, but each can be replaced on its own if the calibration factor is carried over.
Ordering NuFlo meters: what we need
For a turbine meter send line size, end connection and rating, liquid, flow range, pressure and temperature, and the part number or serial number from the existing meter body. For an MC-III send the model from the nameplate, power option, outputs and the area approval required. For produced water or injection water lines in the GCC, mention solids or corrosive service.

Frequently Asked Questions
The MC Synergy is the successor in the NuFlo digital totalizer line. Sensia preserved the MC-III Modbus map inside the MC Synergy, and both support Enron Modbus and Modbus RTU register sets, so it can replace an MC-III without changing the host software driver or core Modbus registers.
Turbine alarms cover flow outside the calibrated or operational range, invalid K-factor or meter factor, flow instability, erratic signal, bent blade and missing blade (for meters 1 in. and larger) and an internals kit service interval. System alarms cover clock, power and battery conditions, and eight user-defined alarms can be built from more than 30 parameters.
Through the glass with five capacitive keys, with the Sensia Digital Data Plate app over Bluetooth on iOS or Android, or with the free MC Synergy PC software. Scanning the QR code supplied with Sensia turbine meters and internals kits uploads meter calibration data in seconds.
Up to two 3.6 VDC D-size lithium batteries give about two years per battery, or an alkaline pack can be used on North American approved units. External power of 6 to 27 VDC, loop power through the 4-20 mA HART board, or power through the Ethernet board are also possible, with the batteries acting as back-up.
Yes. Seven Star LLC supplies the Cameron NuFlo MC Synergy, its HART and Ethernet boards and compatible NuFlo turbine meters to oil and gas and water customers in Oman and the GCC, with selection support from our Muscat office.
