Minimax MX 200 HFC-227ea Fire Extinguishing Systems

Description

Clean agent protection for rooms with electrical and electronic equipment

Minimax MX 200 fire extinguishing systems use the clean agent HFC-227ea. Minimax describes it as particularly suitable for spaces with electronic and electrical equipment and as an economical solution for small and medium-sized rooms. The 50-bar technology of the system makes use of the characteristics of the agent.

HFC-227ea reduces the heat of the fire and stops the combustion reaction. It is stored as a liquid and becomes gas only at the nozzles, so it usually reaches concealed fire sources at once. It is neither corrosive nor electrically conductive, leaves no residue and is removed from the room by ventilation. Minimax notes that at its design concentration it presents no health hazard, which is why MX 200 installations also suit areas with high human activity.

Technical specifications

Parameter Specification

Operating pressures 25 bar, 42 bar and 50 bar configurations
Cylinder pressurisation Liquid agent with superimposed nitrogen cushion (42 or 50 bar), dip tube
Flooding time Agent reaches the protected zone within 10 seconds
System layouts Single-zone and multi-zone systems (common agent stock, selector valves)
Pipework Symmetric or asymmetric pipework; 50 bar allows longer, more complex piping
Design tool Minimax DesignManager, with two-phase flow simulation and AutoCAD interface
Control Minimax FMZ 5000 fire alarm and extinguishing control technology recommended by Minimax
Certification stated VdS Schadenverhuetung tested and certified; UL listings; FM Global approvals and other international bodies

50 bar technology and typical applications

In addition to the conventional 25 and 42 bar, the 50 bar configuration allows longer and more complex piping within the 10 second flooding limit. The agent can then be stored outside the protected room, so the room space stays usable for its purpose, for example for more server cabinets, and the agent stock can be serviced without entering sensitive areas.

Multi-zone systems share one stock for several rooms and release only into the affected zone through selector valves. The quantity is calculated for the largest protected space, and a reserve remains after a release.

What to confirm before ordering

Each system is designed for the project with DesignManager, so the quotation needs room dimensions and height, leakage and ventilation data, the number of zones, pipe routing and the control panel. If you replace an older system, give the agent and pressure of the existing one. The Minimax HELIOS AMX5000 aspirating smoke detector is one detection option on the same Minimax range.

Documents and quotation

The Minimax brochure PB12Ce (print run 05.15) is attached with single-zone, multi-zone and design details. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat; the brochure is an older print run, so current data is checked with Minimax during quotation. See Fire Fighting.

About brand

Fire detection and extinguishing systems for industrial plants, data centers and logistics buildings are the business of Minimax, based in Bad Oldesloe, Germany. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Oman and lists Minimax fire control panels, detectors, a deluge valve set and the MxSysCon fire control configuration software, supplied with its licence dongle. We also take inquiries for Minimax fire protection components and spare parts identified by part number.

Minimax systems the software and parts belong to

The manufacturer's program covers fire detection and extinguishing control panels of the FMZ family and HELIOS aspirating smoke detectors. On the extinguishing side it builds deluge and other water-based systems, Minifog water mist, Oxeo inert gas and carbon dioxide systems, and spark extinguishing. Panel configuration software is tied to a specific panel generation. We did not find the name MxSysCon in the manufacturer's public documents, so the software version has to be checked against your panel type.

Ordering Minimax items: what we need

Send the Minimax part number, the type and firmware version of the control panel, and a photo of the panel label. For detectors, nozzles or valves, add the nameplate data and the approval the project specifies. Minimax systems are engineered per site, so a component is only correct when it matches the original system documents. We check that match for buyers across the GCC before the order is placed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What agent does MX 200 use?
HFC-227ea, stored as a liquid and released as gas at the nozzles.
Which operating pressures are available?
Conventional systems run at 25 bar and 42 bar, and a 50 bar configuration is also offered.
How fast does the agent discharge?
Regulations for HFC-227ea systems require the protected area to be flooded within a maximum of 10 seconds.
Can one system protect several rooms?
Yes, a multi-zone system uses a common agent stock and selector valves to release only into the affected zones.
Is the agent safe for equipment?
Minimax states HFC-227ea is neither corrosive nor electrically conductive and leaves no residue.
