Lenze i550-C7.5/400-3 Cabinet Frequency Inverter

Description

Modular 7.5 kW inverter for conveyors, hoists and machines

The Lenze i550-C7.5/400-3 is a control cabinet frequency inverter from the Lenze i500 series, rated 7.5 kW (10 hp) in heavy duty on a three-phase 400/480 V supply. The i550 is the modular member of the series: it is built from a power unit, a control unit with the chosen I/O and fieldbus, and an optional safety unit. Lenze lists conveyor, travelling, winding and hoist drives, extruders, packaging machines, pumps and fans as typical applications.

Because the parts plug together without tools, a machine builder can stock one power unit and fit different control units for different machines. For a fixed application, the inverter can also be ordered as a complete device.

Control modes, I/O and fieldbus options

The i550 supports V/f control (linear, square-law and VFC eco energy saving), sensorless vector control, sensorless control of synchronous motors and servo control of asynchronous motors with HTL encoder feedback. A brake chopper is integrated, and DC bus connection is possible on the 480 V devices. Lenze offers standard I/O (5 digital inputs, 1 digital output, 2 analog inputs, 1 analog output, relay) or application I/O with more channels. Fieldbus options include CANopen, Modbus RTU and TCP, POWERLINK, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS and PROFINET.

Safe Torque Off is available as an option and is rated by Lenze to SIL 3 (EN IEC 61508) and PL e (EN ISO 13849-1). Commissioning and diagnostics are possible through the keypad, USB or a WLAN module, and parameters are stored on a plug-in memory module, which simplifies replacing a unit.

Sizing and installation notes

Choose between heavy and light duty by the load: hoists and conveyors starting under load usually need the 150% overload of heavy duty, while fans and centrifugal pumps can use the higher light-duty current. The rated currents apply at 45 °C with 2 or 4 kHz switching frequency, or 40 °C at 8 or 16 kHz. For EMC category C2, Lenze gives a motor cable length of up to 20 m. Units can be mounted side by side in the cabinet.

Documents and quotation

The attached Lenze i500 brochure covers the i510 and i550 ranges, ratings tables and order codes. It dates from 2018, so confirm current codes before ordering. For a quotation, state the complete order code or the type plus I/O, fieldbus and STO requirements, and the motor data. More drives are listed under AC Drives.

About brand
Lenze develops drive and automation technology for machine building, with products and systems spanning mechatronics, control hardware and engineering software. Its frequency inverters, motion equipment and accessories are selected as parts of the complete machine application. Supply voltage, motor current, control interface, mounting arrangement and the required protective equipment all affect the correct execution. Lenze also provides software and digital services for automation and machine engineering. When replacing installed equipment, preserve the full model and option codes together with the parameter and wiring records. Seven Star LLC quotation enquiries for Oman and the GCC should include the requested references, quantities, application details and any separately required drive accessories.
