Lenze i510-C2.2/400-3 Compact Frequency Inverter

Description

Slim 2.2 kW drive for simple motor speed control

The Lenze i510-C2.2/400-3 is the basic, one-piece variant of the Lenze i500 inverter series, rated 2.2 kW (3 hp) on a three-phase 400/480 V mains supply. Where the i550 is assembled from separate modules, the i510 is a monolithic device with fixed basic I/O and predefined operating modes. That keeps the price and the engineering effort low for conveyors, travelling drives, pumps, fans and agitators, which are the applications Lenze names for this product.

At this rating the housing is only 60 mm wide and 130 mm deep, and devices can be lined up without side clearance. In crowded control panels on retrofit projects, this often decides whether a new drive fits into the existing enclosure.

Motor control and everyday functions

The i510 runs standard three-phase induction motors with V/f characteristic control (linear, quadratic or the VFC eco energy-saving mode) or sensorless vector control, and it can also drive synchronous motors sensorless. Useful built-in functions for conveyor and pump duty include flying restart, slip compensation, DC braking, skip frequencies and automatic identification of motor data. Parameters sit on a plug-in memory module, so a spare unit can take over the settings of a failed one.

The device is available with basic I/O alone or with basic I/O plus CANopen/Modbus RTU. If PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, STO or encoder feedback is required, the modular i550 is the appropriate choice instead.

Panel design guidance

Output currents in the table apply at 45 °C with 2 or 4 kHz switching, and at 40 °C with 8 or 16 kHz; above 45 °C the current derates by 2.5% per kelvin up to 55 °C. Lenze permits switching the mains on up to three times per minute, so frequent start and stop should be done through the control inputs, not the contactor. On IT networks, follow the measures Lenze specifies for the integrated filter. Up to 2.2 kW, a 30 mA residual current device can be used.

Documents and quotation

The attached Lenze i500 brochure (2018) contains ratings for the i510 and i550 and their order codes; verify the current code before ordering. For a quotation, give the type, the version (basic I/O only or with CANopen/Modbus RTU) and the motor nameplate data. See AC Drives for other inverters.

About brand

Lenze develops drive and automation technology for machine building, with products and systems spanning mechatronics, control hardware and engineering software. Its frequency inverters, motion equipment and accessories are selected as parts of the complete machine application. Supply voltage, motor current, control interface, mounting arrangement and the required protective equipment all affect the correct execution. Lenze also provides software and digital services for automation and machine engineering. When replacing installed equipment, preserve the full model and option codes together with the parameter and wiring records. Seven Star LLC quotation enquiries for Oman and the GCC should include the requested references, quantities, application details and any separately required drive accessories.
