Lenze EVS9324ESV004 9300 Servo Inverter 3.0 kW with Safe Torque Off
Description
3.0 kW 9300 servo inverter for 400 V supplies
Lenze EVS9324ESV004 is a servo inverter for speed and torque control of servo motors, with a resolver feedback input and freely assignable inputs and outputs, built for 3.0 kW (4.0 hp) on 400 V. At 16 kHz it supplies 5.2 A. Lenze now shows the 9300 series in its previous-products section. The figures on this page were read from the 9300 servo inverter manual EDSVS9332S EN 6.0, 07/2013, so please confirm stock and revision before ordering.
V004 in the type code denotes the Safe Torque Off variant, and the scope of supply then includes a 4-pole terminal strip for the safety relay KSR at X11.

General data and approvals
Supply options per the manual: three-phase 320 V to 440 V AC (45 to 65 Hz) or 450 V to 620 V DC. The enclosure is IP20 and reaches IP41 with push-through mounting. Motor cables under 50 m at 8 kHz need no output filter. The manual prints CE conformity (2006/95/EC, 2004/108/EG) and cULus approval, File No. E132659.
Reading the type code EVS9324ESV004
The manual’s nameplate key reads EVS 93xx, design, version, variant. EVS is the servo controller product range, 9324 is the type number for 3.0 kW at 400 V, E means built-in unit (C would be cold plate) and S means servo inverter. V004 adds Safe Torque Off. Other variants in the key are V003 (cold plate), V100 (IT mains) and V104 (STO and IT mains).
Inputs, outputs and feedback
Inputs and outputs include 2 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, 5 digital inputs, 4 digital outputs and controller inhibit, with a 1 ms cycle. Resolver (9-pole Sub-D), 500 kHz TTL encoder and frequency input and output cover the feedback side. Fieldbus and serial modules go on the AIF interface (X1). The manual names LECOM-A/B, LECOM-B, LECOM-LI, LON, INTERBUS, INTERBUS Loop, PROFIBUS-DP and DeviceNet/CANopen.
Mains and environment: TT and TN systems are permitted without restriction with an earthed neutral, while IT systems need a V024 or V100 variant. The earth leakage current is above 3.5 mA, so a fixed installation with the required protective earth is necessary. Operation is rated up to 4000 m altitude and storage from minus 25 to plus 55 degrees C. For the 3.0 kW size the harmonic current limits of EN 61000-3-2 are met without extra measures above 1 kW of total mains power.
Matching accessories listed for 9324
For this size Lenze lists mains choke EZN3A0500H007, C1 mains filter EZN3B0500H007, brake chopper EMB9352-E, brake resistor ERBD068R800W and push-through kit EJ0037 with a cutout of 101 x 350 mm, plus shield kits EZZ0015 for the control cable and EZZ0016 for the motor cable. Derate the current by 2.5% per degree above +40 degrees C and by 5% for each 1000 m above 1000 m.
Selecting the 9324 for a replacement or retrofit
Since the 9300 series now appears among Lenze’s previous products, most enquiries for the EVS9324ESV004 come from plants keeping existing machines running. The safest route is to match the replacement to the unit already installed rather than to a new design calculation. Read the full type code on the existing nameplate, including design, version and variant, and compare it with the key explained above. A unit without the V004 variant will not provide Safe Torque Off, while the IT-mains variants are intended for different supply systems, so a code that looks almost identical can still behave differently on site.
- Confirm the mains supply type and voltage against the supply options listed in the manual.
- Check the servo motor rating and feedback type, since the drive uses a resolver input and also accepts encoder feedback.
- Note which fieldbus or serial module is fitted on the AIF interface so the controller link can be restored.
- Record whether the safety circuit uses the Safe Torque Off terminals at X11.
Installation and commissioning steps
Mount the inverter in a cabinet following the mounting instructions and dimensions in the system manual, and plan cabinet cooling for the stated heat dissipation. Because the earth leakage current is above 3.5 mA, the protective earth connection must be completed before power is applied. Keep motor and control cables separated, use the shield kits listed for this size, and observe the motor cable length guidance in the general data.
When commissioning a replacement unit, transfer the parameter set from the old drive where possible, then check motor data, feedback settings, current limits and I/O assignments before enabling. Test the Safe Torque Off function as part of the machine’s safety validation, not only the normal stop. Run the axis first at low speed without load, then under normal production conditions, and monitor current and temperature during the first shifts.
Operating in Gulf panel conditions
Drives installed in Oman and the GCC often sit in cabinets exposed to high summer temperatures, fine dust and occasional humidity. The derating guidance above applies once the air around the drive exceeds +40 degrees C, which is easily reached inside an unventilated panel. Size cabinet cooling for the hottest season, keep enclosure doors closed, and clean dust from the cabinet during planned shutdowns. The IP20 rating of the drive means the cabinet itself must provide protection against dust and moisture.
Maintenance practice
- Keep a saved copy of the parameter set with the machine documentation.
- Check terminal tightness and cable shield connections during shutdowns.
- Investigate the cause of any unexpected stop before resetting and restarting the axis.
Documentation and quote requests
Ratings, mounting, wiring and commissioning for all 93xx sizes up to 75 kW are in the attached Lenze system manual. Related drives are listed in Servo Drives. A quotation needs the exact part number, mains voltage, motor and feedback type, and any Safe Torque Off or IT-mains requirement.

About brand
Lenze is a German company for drive and automation technology for machine building, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Aerzen, Lower Saxony. Its portfolio runs from frequency inverters, servo inverters and motors to controllers, engineering software and digital services.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lenze frequency and servo inverters, including current and earlier generations, for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.
Lenze product series
Current inverters on this site are the i500 family: the i510 compact frequency inverter, the i550 cabinet inverter and its i550 protec decentral version for mounting on the machine, and the i950 cabinet servo inverter. Earlier generations that are still widely installed are also listed: the 8400 StateLine C inverters (E84AVSC...), the 8200 vector frequency inverters (E82EV...) and the 9300 servo position controllers and servo inverters (EVS93...), including versions with Safe Torque Off.
Where Lenze drives are used
Conveyors and intralogistics, packaging and bottling lines, pumps and fans, hoists, textile and printing machines, and positioning axes on special machines. Many plants in the region keep 8200 vector and 9300 drives in service and need exact replacements or a planned migration to the i500 series.
Ordering Lenze inverters: what we need
Send the complete type code from the nameplate, for example E84AVSCE5524SX0, together with the supply voltage, motor power and current, the control interface or fieldbus module, and any options such as safety functions, keypad or brake resistor. When replacing an installed drive, keep the parameter set and wiring records, because a new unit or a successor model must be parameterised to match the machine.
