Lenze EVS9323-EP 9300 Servo Position Controller 1.5 kW
Description
1.5 kW 9300 servo position controller for 400 V supplies
Within the 9300 range, the Lenze EVS9323-EP handles a 1.5 kW axis with 2.7 kVA output power. It is the 9300 version for positioning tasks, built on the same hardware as the servo inverter. As a member of the 9300 series, which Lenze lists as a previous product, this drive is legacy. Source of all data: system manual EDSVS9332P EN 5.0, 07/2013; availability and version need confirming.

Supply, enclosure and approvals
Lenze specifies AC mains of 3/PE 320 to 440 V, 45 to 65 Hz, or DC of 450 to 620 V. Degree of protection: IP20 (IP41 in push-through technique). Maximum motor cable length: below 50 m at 8 kHz without filters. Approvals as printed: CE to 2006/95/EC and 2004/108/EG, and cULus File No. E132659.
Reading the type code EVS9323-EP
Decoded with the manual’s nameplate key: EVS (servo controller), 9323 (1.5 kW at 400 V), E (built-in design), P (servo position controller). No V suffix means the standard variant; V003, V004, V100 and V104 exist for cold plate, Safe Torque Off, IT mains and STO plus IT mains.
Control terminals and feedback options
Terminals and feedback match the 9300 servo inverter (analog 2 in / 2 out, digital 5 in / 4 out, resolver, encoder, frequency I/O). What the position controller adds, per its manual, is a positioning program started and reset via digital inputs. The AIF slot at X1 takes the communication modules the manual lists: LECOM-A/B, LECOM-B, LECOM-LI, LON, INTERBUS, INTERBUS Loop, PROFIBUS-DP and DeviceNet/CANopen.
The manual’s operating conditions give climatic class 3K3 for operation, 1K3 for storage and 2K3 for transport, pollution degree 2 and overvoltage category III below 2000 m. The motor thermal sensor is connected through a dedicated input for PTC or thermal contact, and the setpoint inputs offer a signal level of 5 V or 10 V. Together with a rated current of 3.9 A at 8 kHz these data define the use of the 1.5 kW size.
Accessory table entries for the 9323 size
The manual’s type-specific accessory table names a mains choke EZN3A0900H004, a category C1 mains filter EZN3B0900H004, the brake chopper EMB9352-E, the brake resistor ERBD082R600W and the push-through mounting kit EJ0037 (cutout 101 x 350 mm). Shield mounting kits EZZ0015 (control cable) and EZZ0016 (motor cable) are also listed. Hot or high installations derate the output by 2.5% per degree over +40 degrees C and 5% per 1000 m over 1000 m.
Replacing an installed EVS9323-EP
Because the 9300 series is a previous Lenze product, most requests for the EVS9323-EP come from plants replacing a failed or ageing controller on an existing machine. Before removing the old unit, read the full type code and any variant suffix from its nameplate, and note the hardware and software versions, since a replacement should match them or be confirmed as compatible. Photograph the wiring and label every conductor, including the resolver or encoder cable, the motor thermal sensor and any communication module fitted in the AIF slot.
Save the parameter set and the positioning program from the existing controller with the Lenze engineering tool or keypad, if the unit is still able to communicate. Without this backup, the positioning sequence has to be rebuilt from the machine documentation, which can take considerably longer than the hardware exchange.
Commissioning after replacement
Isolate the supply and wait for the DC bus to discharge as stated in the manual before working on the terminals. Mount the controller with the clearances given in the system manual, reconnect the wiring as recorded and check the shield connections of motor and feedback cables. Load the saved parameters, then check the motor data, feedback setting and direction of rotation with the motor uncoupled where possible. Test homing and each positioning step at reduced speed, confirm the limit and safety functions, and only then return the axis to production.
Selection checks
Confirm the rated power, supply voltage and continuous current against the motor and the existing application, and check whether the old unit used the standard variant or one of the suffix variants listed on this page, as a different variant affects cooling or safety wiring. Confirm which communication module and feedback type the machine uses. Where an exact like-for-like unit cannot be confirmed, discuss a migration path with the machine builder or Lenze before ordering.
Operating conditions in Oman and GCC panels
The heat dissipation of this size has to be removed from the control cabinet, and in Oman and the GCC the ambient air around panels is often hot for much of the year. Check the cabinet temperature against the derating rules in the manual and keep cabinet cooling and filters in good condition. With an IP20 rating, the controller needs a clean, dry enclosure, so keep dust and sand out with sealed cable entries and closed doors. Pollution degree 2 in the manual means that conductive dust and condensation must be avoided; in humid coastal plants, keep the cabinet climate stable to prevent moisture forming on the electronics. During shutdowns, clean dust from the heatsink area, check terminal tightness and review the fault history.
Documentation and quote requests
Ratings, mounting, wiring and commissioning for all 93xx sizes up to 75 kW are in the attached Lenze system manual. For other drives see Servo Drives. Quote with the full part number, supply voltage, motor and feedback type, and whether Safe Torque Off or IT-mains operation is required.

About brand
Lenze is a German company for drive and automation technology for machine building, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Aerzen, Lower Saxony. Its portfolio runs from frequency inverters, servo inverters and motors to controllers, engineering software and digital services.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lenze frequency and servo inverters, including current and earlier generations, for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.
Lenze product series
Current inverters on this site are the i500 family: the i510 compact frequency inverter, the i550 cabinet inverter and its i550 protec decentral version for mounting on the machine, and the i950 cabinet servo inverter. Earlier generations that are still widely installed are also listed: the 8400 StateLine C inverters (E84AVSC...), the 8200 vector frequency inverters (E82EV...) and the 9300 servo position controllers and servo inverters (EVS93...), including versions with Safe Torque Off.
Where Lenze drives are used
Conveyors and intralogistics, packaging and bottling lines, pumps and fans, hoists, textile and printing machines, and positioning axes on special machines. Many plants in the region keep 8200 vector and 9300 drives in service and need exact replacements or a planned migration to the i500 series.
Ordering Lenze inverters: what we need
Send the complete type code from the nameplate, for example E84AVSCE5524SX0, together with the supply voltage, motor power and current, the control interface or fieldbus module, and any options such as safety functions, keypad or brake resistor. When replacing an installed drive, keep the parameter set and wiring records, because a new unit or a successor model must be parameterised to match the machine.
