Lenze EVS9321-EP 9300 Servo Position Controller 0.37 kW
Description
0.37 kW servo position controller from the Lenze 9300 series
The Lenze EVS9321-EP is the 0.37 kW (0.5 hp) servo position controller of the Lenze 9300 series, the position-controlling variant of the 9300 servo family, with a positioning program on top of the servo hardware. Rated output current is 1.5 A at the 8 kHz setting. As a member of the 9300 series, which Lenze lists as a previous product, this drive is legacy. Source of all data: system manual EDSVS9332P EN 5.0, 07/2013; availability and version need confirming.

Standards and operating conditions
Input power can be three-phase AC from 320 to 440 V (45 to 65 Hz) or DC from 450 to 620 V; the housing is IP20 (IP41 when mounted through the cabinet wall); motor cables up to 50 m work at 8 kHz without extra filtering; the document prints CE and cULus (File No. E132659) approvals.
Reading the type code EVS9321-EP
The manual’s nameplate key reads EVS 93xx, design, version, variant. EVS is the servo controller product range, 9321 is the type number for 0.37 kW at 400 V, E means built-in unit (C would be cold plate) and P means servo position controller. Variants in the key are V003 (cold plate), V004 (Safe Torque Off), V100 (IT mains) and V104 (STO and IT mains); a part number without a V suffix is the standard variant.
Inputs, outputs and feedback
Hardware is shared with the servo inverter: two bipolar analog inputs and outputs, five digital inputs, four digital outputs, controller inhibit, resolver and incremental encoder inputs and a frequency input and output. Its manual describes a positioning program that digital inputs start and reset. Communication modules plug onto the AIF interface at X1; the manual lists LECOM-A/B, LECOM-B, LECOM-LI, LON, INTERBUS, INTERBUS Loop, PROFIBUS-DP and DeviceNet/CANopen modules.
Mains and environment: TT and TN systems are permitted without restriction with an earthed neutral, while IT systems need a V024 or V100 variant. The earth leakage current is above 3.5 mA, so a fixed installation with the required protective earth is necessary. Operation is rated up to 4000 m altitude and storage from minus 25 to plus 55 degrees C. For the 0.37 kW size the harmonic current limits of EN 61000-3-2 are met without extra measures above 1 kW of total mains power.
Matching accessories listed for 9321
The manual’s type-specific accessory table names a mains choke EZN3A2400H002, a category C1 mains filter EZN3B2400H002, the brake chopper EMB9352-E, the brake resistor ERBD180R300W and the push-through mounting kit EJ0036 (cutout 82 x 350 mm). Shield mounting kits EZZ0015 (control cable) and EZZ0016 (motor cable) are also listed. Above +40 degrees C reduce the rated output current by 2.5% per degree, and by 5% per 1000 m above 1000 m site altitude.
Key features of the EVS9321-EP
- Servo hardware of the 9300 family combined with an integrated positioning program, so simple point-to-point moves can run without an external motion controller.
- 1.5 A continuous output at 8 kHz with 2.25 A available as maximum current for acceleration peaks.
- Resolver and incremental encoder inputs on the same unit, which lets it work with the feedback devices fitted to most Lenze servo motors of the period.
- DC bus connection able to supply 2.0 kW, useful in multi-axis systems that share braking energy between drives.
- Fieldbus options through plug-in modules on the AIF interface rather than a fixed protocol.
Replacing or maintaining an existing 9300 axis
Because the 9300 series is listed by Lenze as a previous product, most enquiries for the EVS9321-EP come from machines already in service. When an axis fails, the quickest route back to production is a like-for-like unit with the same design letter and variant suffix, since the parameter set, terminal layout and mounting dimensions then match. Before ordering, read the full nameplate of the installed controller, including any V-suffix, and note whether it is the built-in (E) or cold-plate (C) design. If a parameter backup exists, from the keypad or from the PC software used on the machine, keep it with the RFQ; reloading parameters is far faster than recommissioning the positioning program from scratch.
Points to check when the original unit is unavailable
- The motor and its feedback device: a replacement drive must read the same resolver or encoder.
- The fieldbus module plugged into X1, which usually transfers to the new controller.
- Safety wiring: a V004 or V104 variant with Safe Torque Off cannot be replaced by a standard unit without reviewing the safety circuit.
- Mains type: on an IT network the variant must suit IT operation.
Installation notes
Mount the controller vertically in a cabinet with the clearances given in the system manual, and keep the motor cable shield bonded at both ends using the listed shield kits. The 100 W heat dissipation at rated load has to be removed by the enclosure cooling; in a closed cabinet this matters more than the drive’s own fan. Because leakage current exceeds 3.5 mA, the protective earth must be a fixed connection of adequate cross-section. Where the motor brakes a large inertia, size the brake chopper and resistor from the listed accessories rather than relying on the DC bus capacitance alone.
Use in Oman and GCC installations
Many packaging, bottling and material-handling lines in the region still run 9300 axes. High panel temperatures are the usual cause of early failure: the manual requires derating of 2.5 % per degree above +40 °C, so a cabinet that reaches 50 °C in summer leaves noticeably less current available. Adequate enclosure cooling, clean filters and periodic tightening of power terminals extend the life of these controllers considerably. Keeping one tested spare unit with a saved parameter file is a common practice for critical axes.
What to include in your RFQ
- Complete type code from the nameplate, including design letter and any V-suffix.
- Hardware and software version if shown on the label.
- Motor type and feedback device (resolver or encoder).
- Installed communication module and any required accessories such as mains choke, filter or brake resistor.
- Quantity, and whether a new, repaired or alternative unit would be acceptable.
Manual and quotation
Open the attached system manual for the complete 93xx range up to 75 kW, including wiring and commissioning. For other drives see Servo Drives. Quote with the full part number, supply voltage, motor and feedback type, and whether Safe Torque Off or IT-mains operation is required.

About brand
Lenze is a German company for drive and automation technology for machine building, founded in 1947 and headquartered in Aerzen, Lower Saxony. Its portfolio runs from frequency inverters, servo inverters and motors to controllers, engineering software and digital services.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lenze frequency and servo inverters, including current and earlier generations, for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.
Lenze product series
Current inverters on this site are the i500 family: the i510 compact frequency inverter, the i550 cabinet inverter and its i550 protec decentral version for mounting on the machine, and the i950 cabinet servo inverter. Earlier generations that are still widely installed are also listed: the 8400 StateLine C inverters (E84AVSC...), the 8200 vector frequency inverters (E82EV...) and the 9300 servo position controllers and servo inverters (EVS93...), including versions with Safe Torque Off.
Where Lenze drives are used
Conveyors and intralogistics, packaging and bottling lines, pumps and fans, hoists, textile and printing machines, and positioning axes on special machines. Many plants in the region keep 8200 vector and 9300 drives in service and need exact replacements or a planned migration to the i500 series.
Ordering Lenze inverters: what we need
Send the complete type code from the nameplate, for example E84AVSCE5524SX0, together with the supply voltage, motor power and current, the control interface or fieldbus module, and any options such as safety functions, keypad or brake resistor. When replacing an installed drive, keep the parameter set and wiring records, because a new unit or a successor model must be parameterised to match the machine.
