Helukabel JZ-500 HMH Halogen-Free Control Cable

Description

The Helukabel JZ-500 HMH is the halogen-free counterpart of the JZ-500 control cable. Core insulation and outer sheath are halogen-free polymers, so the cable gives off no halogen acids in a fire and is tested for combustion-gas corrosiveness and smoke density. It is offered as JZ-500 HMH with a green-yellow protective conductor and as OZ-500 HMH without, and suits panels, machine wiring and plant areas where low smoke and halogen-free materials are specified.

Choosing it over the standard PVC type

The practical difference from the PVC JZ-500 is fire behaviour. The HMH construction passes the bundle fire test and the smoke-density and halogen-content tests listed above, while the flexible temperature range is narrower (-25 °C to +70 °C) and the permitted flexible bending radius is larger at 12.5 times the outer diameter. Helukabel specifies it for fixed installation and for flexible use with occasional, not constantly repeated, free movement, without tensile load or forced guidance, in dry, damp and wet locations and on plaster.

Typical locations are machine tools, conveyor lines, production lines, plant construction, air-conditioning equipment and metallurgical and rolling mills. The sheath is largely oil resistant, and the materials are cadmium-free and silicone-free. If the project specification asks for a screened version, look at the EMC-preferred types rather than adding a separate screen.

Core counts and sizes

The range runs from two-core 0.5 mm² to multicore bundles. Selected entries from the manufacturer table (G includes a protective conductor, x does not):

About brand

Helukabel is a German cable manufacturer and supplier founded in 1978 and headquartered in Hemmingen near Stuttgart, part of the family-run HELU Group. Its catalogue covers control and connection cables, data and bus cables, motor and servo cables, drag-chain cables, power and fire-resistant cables, fibre optic and solar cables, together with cable accessories and assemblies.

Helukabel cable families

Industrial control cables such as JZ-500 and JZ-600, screened instrumentation cables such as PAAR-TRONIC-CY, motor cables for frequency converters such as TOPFLEX-EMV, halogen-free and fire-resistant power cables, welding cable, solar cable and Industrial Ethernet and fibre optic cables each have a data sheet with construction, standards, temperature range and a part-number table listing core count, cross-section, outer diameter and weight.

Supply from Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, sources Helukabel cables against the manufacturer part number and data sheet, and provides the data sheet with each quotation. Send the part number, or the cable type, core count, cross-section and length.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the JZ-500 HMH halogen-free?
Yes. Both the core insulation and outer sheath are halogen-free polymers, and the data sheet lists halogen-free testing to DIN EN 60754-1 and corrosiveness testing to DIN EN 60754-2.
What fire tests does the JZ-500 HMH list?
Flame-retardant to DIN EN 60332-1-2, bundle fire test to DIN EN 60332-3-24 and smoke density to DIN EN 61034-1+2, as printed on the data sheet.
What is the flexible temperature range?
Flexible installation -25 °C to +70 °C and fixed installation -40 °C to +70 °C.
What is the difference between JZ-500 HMH and OZ-500 HMH?
