Haws 8320 AXION MSR Emergency Shower and Eye/Face Wash
Description
8320 is the Haws AXION MSR free-standing emergency shower with a bowl-type eye/face wash, an in-line strainer and a drain connection. The sheet is titled 8320-8325, and the product page says the two models are now the same.
Combination unit with an enclosed bowl and a drain
Compared with the 8317 on this site, the 8320 adds an 11 in. (27.9 cm) green ABS plastic bowl around the eye/face wash, a yellow pop-off dust cover, a chrome-plated brass in-line 50 x 50 mesh strainer and a 1-1/4 in. waste connection. The manual states both the inlet supply and the waste outlet are female 1-1/4 in. IPS.
The remaining construction is the same family: 1-1/4 in. Schedule 40 hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe and fittings, a 9 in. (22.9 cm) powder-coated cast-iron floor flange, an ABS AXION MSR showerhead with 20 gpm flow control, and a stainless steel push flag for the eyewash and pull rod for the shower. Both valves use a stainless steel ball and stem.
Key features as printed in the datasheet
- Free-standing combination: drench shower plus bowl-type AXION MSR eye/face wash.
- Eyewash flow control 3.7 gpm; shower flow control 20 gpm.
- 11 in. green ABS bowl with yellow pop-off dust cover.
- Chrome-plated brass in-line 50 x 50 mesh strainer, serviceable.

Selection and ordering guide
Pick the 8320 over the 8317 when a bowl and a drain are wanted at the eyewash, for example in clean indoor areas where the water must be contained. Pick the 8317 when the water can drain away from the post on the floor. A corrosion-resistant 8320CRP is mentioned in the manual title and the Haws site; confirm its data before ordering.
Mind the site-specific ANSI Z358.1 positioning figures quoted in Haws drawings: shower head 82-96 in. above the floor, eyewash pattern 33-53 in. high, and unobstructed reach in 10 seconds.
Installation and operation notes
Per the manual, the foundation is prepared with the floor-flange as a template and the flange is fastened with minimum 3/8 in. fasteners (not supplied). The lower tee, a 21-1/2 in. nipple and the eyewash loop come first, using the waste bend for leverage, followed by two 24 in. nipples and tees, the valve assembly and the showerhead. Pipe-joint sealant PST 565 is specified.
The troubleshooting table separates faults by symptom: blocked eyewash flow control or L-strainer (clean via 3/8 in. Allen wrench cap), blocked showerhead flow control, and blocked drain.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Laboratories, chemical blending halls, water-treatment plants and battery rooms in the Gulf region use combination stations to cover both splash types. The in-line strainer is useful where line debris is expected after commissioning or maintenance work.
In dusty outdoor sites the pop-off cover protects the eyewash head between uses.
