Haws 8100 AXION MSR Floor Mount Emergency Drench Shower
Description
8100 is the Haws AXION MSR floor-mounted emergency drench shower: a free-standing galvanized steel post with a green ABS showerhead, a 20 gpm self-regulating flow control and a 28 in. stainless steel triangular pull rod. It is the shower-only counterpart of the 8317 combination unit.
Free-standing drench shower on a bolted flange
The post is built from 1-1/4 in. IPS Schedule 40 hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe and fittings on a powder-coated cast-iron floor flange 9 in. (22.9 cm) in diameter. The valve assembly is pre-built, and the stay-open chrome-plated brass ball valve has a stainless steel ball and stem so the water keeps flowing after a single tug on the rod.
Visibility is part of the design: the 8 in. x 10-3/4 in. universal sign and a 21 in. (53.3 cm) self-adhesive Safety Green and bright yellow stripe make the post easy to find, and the unit ships with a test card for weekly checks. The ABS showerhead is the AXION MSR hydrodynamic type, with self-regulating 20 gpm flow control.

Selection and ordering guide
The 8100 is for locations where a stand-alone shower is wanted and a floor can accept three anchor bolts. If an eyewash is also needed at the same point, the 8317 and 8320 on this site include one. If the head must be stainless the SP829SS upgrade is listed as an option; for an all-stainless pipe run look at the 8133H.
The sheet and drawing notes repeat the Z358.1 positioning rule: shower head not less than 82 in. and not greater than 96 in. above the standing surface, with a spray pattern at least 20 in. across at 60 in. above the surface and centre at least 16 in. from any obstruction.
Installation and operation notes
Steps in the manual: use the floor flange as a template for three holes for 3/8-16 UNC x 6 in. anchor bolts (not supplied) extending 1 in. above the floor; bolt down the flange; thread a 1-1/4 in. x 33 in. nipple, an intermediate coupling, a plugged 24 in. nipple with tee, another 24 in. nipple, the reducing tee and valve assembly; fit the street elbow and showerhead; mount the sign; plug the unused tee; and flush the line thoroughly before connection.
Use PST 565 pipe-joint sealant. For leaks the manual suggests tightening joints and, if needed, applying hot water to reseat the compound, waiting 30 minutes and retesting.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Free-standing showers are placed at chemical transfer points, pump houses, lube-oil and fuel handling areas, battery rooms and workshops. In open GCC yards the galvanized finish suits general outdoor service, while a tempering valve and an alarm are available for managing water temperature and attracting help.
Plan a floor drain: the troubleshooting table lists poor drainage as a possible issue, and the install guide advises appropriate drainage to avoid accumulation of water on floors.
