Brand:

Beamex PGM Hand-Operated Pressure Calibration Pump, 0-20 bar

Description

Hand-operated pressure source for field calibration up to 20 bar

The Beamex PGM is a hand-operated pneumatic calibration pump that generates pressure from 0 to 20 bar (0 to 300 psi) using air as the pressure medium. It is built as a compact hand pump with a scissor-style frame, so a technician can pump it with one hand while holding a reference pressure module or calibrator in the other. Beamex describes its volume control as extremely accurate, which gives fine adjustment of the pressure when setting calibration points on gauges, transmitters and switches.

The PGM is the smallest pump in the Beamex PG family, which also includes the PGC (pressure and vacuum), PGL (low pressure), PGPH (high-pressure pneumatic) and PGHH (hydraulic). It is a pressure source only and does not measure; pair it with a reference instrument such as a Beamex calibrator or pressure module.

Choosing a pump in the PG range

Model Range and medium
PGM 0 to 20 bar, air, hand-held
PGC -0.95 to 35 bar, air, pressure and vacuum selector
PGL -400 to 400 mbar, air, low-pressure work
PGPH -0.95 to 140 bar, air, table pump
PGHH 0 to 700 bar, distilled water or low-viscosity mineral oil

The PGM suits instrument technicians who calibrate pneumatic gauges and transmitters up to 20 bar in the field. For vacuum, use the PGC; for higher pressures, a PGPH or hydraulic PGHH is needed. Beamex also offers the ePG electric pressure pump and controller for automated pressure generation.

Documents and quotation

The attached Beamex PG calibration pumps brochure (2025) lists the specifications of the PGM and the other pumps. Accessory lists and pressure fitting guides are maintained by Beamex, so confirm hoses and adapters for your device connections. For a quotation, state the model, the required hoses and fittings, and whether a carrying case is needed. Related instruments are listed under Portable Test and Measurement.

About brand

Calibration equipment and software are what Beamex makes. Founded in 1975 in Pietarsaari, Finland, the company supplies the field calibrators that instrument technicians carry to check transmitters, switches and temperature sensors. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists Beamex MC6, MC6-Ex, MC4 and MC2 calibrators, the MB metrology temperature block and the ePG electric pressure pump and controller.

Beamex calibrators and accessories listed here

The handheld calibrators differ mainly in scope:

  • MC6: advanced field calibrator and communicator, the current model
  • MC6-Ex: the intrinsically safe version for hazardous areas
  • MC4: documenting process calibrator, discontinued by Beamex in May 2023
  • MC2: hand-held process calibrator, discontinued in May 2023

For both retired models Beamex names the MC6 as the recommended replacement. Two items complete a calibration setup. The MB metrology temperature block is a dry block built in four models, MB140, MB155, MB425 and MB700, which together cover -45 to +700 °C. The ePG is a battery-operated electric pump and controller for about -0.85 to 20 bar, usable with any pressure calibrator.

Where Beamex calibrators are used

Any plant with a calibration program is a user: oil and gas facilities, power stations, water utilities, pharmaceutical and food plants across the GCC. A documenting calibrator stores the as-found and as-left results of each test, so they can be transferred to calibration software instead of being written down by hand. In classified areas the MC6-Ex, certified to ATEX and IECEx, is the model to ask for.

Ordering Beamex calibrators: what we need

A Beamex calibrator is configured to order. Tell us the model, the internal pressure module ranges, any external pressure modules, the communicator protocols you need (for example HART), and the accessories: pumps, hoses, cases and test leads. For the MB state the model or the temperature range. If you need accredited calibration certificates from the manufacturer, say so at the start because it is an order option.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pressure range does the Beamex PGM cover?
0 to 20 bar (0 to 300 psi) using air as the pressure medium.
Can the PGM generate vacuum?
No. For vacuum use the Beamex PGC, which covers -0.95 to 35 bar.
What are the output connectors?
Two 1/8 in. NPT female connectors.
How heavy is the PGM?
400 g (0.9 lb), with dimensions of 223 x 96 x 38 mm.
Does the PGM include a reference gauge?
No. It is a pressure source only and is used with a separate reference instrument.
