Brand:

Beamex PGHH Hydraulic Calibration Hand Pump, 700 bar

Description

Hand-generated hydraulic pressure up to 700 bar

The Beamex PGHH is a hand-operated hydraulic pressure generator for calibrating high-range pressure transmitters, gauges and switches in the field or workshop. It produces up to 700 bar (10,000 psi) with distilled water or low-viscosity mineral oil, so the medium can be matched to the instrument being tested, for example water for instruments that must stay oil-free.

An adjustable volume control fine-tunes the pressure at each calibration point, a vent valve releases it, and a priming/high-pressure selector lets the user first fill the system with large strokes and then switch to small, high-force strokes.

Working safely at high hydraulic pressure

At several hundred bar, stored energy in a hydraulic system is low compared with gas, but leaks still spray fine jets of fluid. As general practice, bleed air from the circuit during priming, since trapped air makes the pressure slow to stabilise and adds compressed energy; use hoses and fittings rated above the test pressure (the supplied hose is rated 630 bar, and 1000 bar hoses are listed as optional accessories); and never pressurize the glass reservoir, as the label on the pump also warns. Use one fluid per pump where possible, to avoid contaminating oil-free instruments.

Choosing between the PGHH and other Beamex pumps

The PGHH is the only hydraulic model in the Beamex PG hand pump line. For pneumatic work above 35 bar Beamex offers the PGPH table pump up to 140 bar, while the PGC and PGM cover lower air ranges. Liquid is preferred above roughly 100 bar because it is nearly incompressible: only a small piston movement is needed per test point and the stored energy is far lower than with gas.

Ordering the PGHH

The brochure attached here (Beamex, April 2025) lists the PGHH data, standard delivery and optional 630 bar and 1000 bar hoses. Please tell us which pressure module or reference gauge it will be used with, the fluid, and the thread of the instruments to be tested, so suitable adapters can be quoted. Related tools are grouped in Portable Test and Measurement.

About brand

Calibration equipment and software are what Beamex makes. Founded in 1975 in Pietarsaari, Finland, the company supplies the field calibrators that instrument technicians carry to check transmitters, switches and temperature sensors. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists Beamex MC6, MC6-Ex, MC4 and MC2 calibrators, the MB metrology temperature block and the ePG electric pressure pump and controller.

Beamex calibrators and accessories listed here

The handheld calibrators differ mainly in scope:

  • MC6: advanced field calibrator and communicator, the current model
  • MC6-Ex: the intrinsically safe version for hazardous areas
  • MC4: documenting process calibrator, discontinued by Beamex in May 2023
  • MC2: hand-held process calibrator, discontinued in May 2023

For both retired models Beamex names the MC6 as the recommended replacement. Two items complete a calibration setup. The MB metrology temperature block is a dry block built in four models, MB140, MB155, MB425 and MB700, which together cover -45 to +700 °C. The ePG is a battery-operated electric pump and controller for about -0.85 to 20 bar, usable with any pressure calibrator.

Where Beamex calibrators are used

Any plant with a calibration program is a user: oil and gas facilities, power stations, water utilities, pharmaceutical and food plants across the GCC. A documenting calibrator stores the as-found and as-left results of each test, so they can be transferred to calibration software instead of being written down by hand. In classified areas the MC6-Ex, certified to ATEX and IECEx, is the model to ask for.

Ordering Beamex calibrators: what we need

A Beamex calibrator is configured to order. Tell us the model, the internal pressure module ranges, any external pressure modules, the communicator protocols you need (for example HART), and the accessories: pumps, hoses, cases and test leads. For the MB state the model or the temperature range. If you need accredited calibration certificates from the manufacturer, say so at the start because it is an order option.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum pressure of the Beamex PGHH?
700 bar (10,000 psi), generated by hand.
Which fluids can be used in the PGHH?
Beamex specifies distilled water or low-viscosity mineral oil.
What is the priming selector for?
It switches between a priming stroke that fills the system quickly and a high-pressure stroke for the final pressure.
Can a Beamex external pressure module be fitted directly?
Yes. One output is a G1/4 in. B female port for Beamex EXT60 to EXT1000 external modules.
Which hose comes with the PGHH?
A 630 bar 1.0 m hose with a 1/4 in. NPT fitting, plus seals, a filling bottle and a hard carrying case.
