Brand: Beamex
Beamex PGPH Pneumatic High-Pressure Calibration Pump
Description
Bench pump for vacuum and pneumatic pressure up to 140 bar
The Beamex PGPH is a hand-operated pneumatic table pressure generator from the Beamex PG range of calibration pumps. It uses air as the pressure medium and generates both vacuum and pressure up to 140 bar (2000 psi). Beamex states that the maximum pressure can be reached in less than one minute, and an adjustable volume control allows fine tuning of the generated pressure. Two hand-tight connectors let the technician connect the reference and the device under test without tools.
Because the medium is air, the PGPH is a clean choice for calibrating pressure transmitters, gauges and switches that must not be contaminated with oil or water, for example instruments in gas service.

Using the pump in a calibration setup
A pump only generates pressure; a reference is still needed. In a typical setup the PGPH supplies one port, a pressure module or calibrator such as the Beamex MC6 reads the reference pressure, and the transmitter or gauge under test is connected to the second port. After the pressure is pumped up close to the test point, the shut-off valve is closed and the fine adjust handwheel sets the exact value. The volume of the test hoses and the device under test affects how quickly the target pressure is reached, so short, small-bore hoses help. Allow a short settling time after large pressure steps, because air heats when compressed and the pressure drops slightly as it cools.
For pressures above 140 bar a hydraulic pump such as the PGHH is the alternative, and for very low ranges the PGL gives finer control.
Before each use, check the O-rings in the hand-tight connectors, because a damaged seal can cause a slow pressure leak during a test. The standard delivery includes a set of 20 spare O-rings for this reason. When the pump is used for vacuum checks, close the shut-off valve before reading so that the reading is not disturbed by the pump stroke, and release pressure slowly through the valve after the test to protect the device under test.
Documents and quotation
The attached Beamex brochure covers the PGM, PGC, PGHH, PGPH and PGL pumps with specifications and standard delivery. For a quotation, state the pump model, required hoses and fittings, and whether a carrying case is needed. More calibration equipment is listed under Portable Test and Measurement.

About brand
Calibration equipment and software are the only things Beamex makes. Founded in 1975 in Pietarsaari, Finland, the company supplies the field calibrators that instrument technicians carry to check transmitters, switches and temperature sensors. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists Beamex MC6, MC6-Ex, MC4 and MC2 calibrators, the MB metrology temperature block and the ePG electric pressure pump and controller.
Beamex calibrators and accessories listed here
The handheld calibrators differ mainly in scope:- MC6: advanced field calibrator and communicator, the current model
- MC6-Ex: the intrinsically safe version for hazardous areas
- MC4: documenting process calibrator, discontinued by Beamex in May 2023
- MC2: hand-held process calibrator, discontinued in May 2023
Where Beamex calibrators are used
Any plant with a calibration program is a user: oil and gas facilities, power stations, water utilities, pharmaceutical and food plants across the GCC. A documenting calibrator stores the as-found and as-left results of each test, so they can be transferred to calibration software instead of being written down by hand. In classified areas the MC6-Ex, certified to ATEX and IECEx, is the model to ask for.Ordering Beamex calibrators: what we need
A Beamex calibrator is configured to order. Tell us the model, the internal pressure module ranges, any external pressure modules, the communicator protocols you need (for example HART), and the accessories: pumps, hoses, cases and test leads. For the MB state the model or the temperature range. If you need accredited calibration certificates from the manufacturer, say so at the start because it is an order option.Browse Beamex products by category: Portable Test & Measurement.
