Iskra WM1-6 Single-Phase Energy Meter 65 A, DIN Rail
Description
WM1-6 is the Iskra single-phase, direct-connected DIN-rail energy meter with a 65 A maximum current. The WM1M6 is the MID-certified version. It is two DIN modules wide and can be configured with RS485 Modbus communication, a pulse output, a tariff input or combinations of these.
A 65 A single-phase meter configured through its ordering code
The WM1-6 measures energy directly in two-wire networks using fast sampling of voltage and current, and a microprocessor calculates energy, power and power factor. It counts active energy in class 1 (EN 62053-21; class B under EN 50470-3) and reactive energy in class 2, and shows values on an 8-digit (7+1) LCD with 100 Wh resolution.
The meter has four energy counters. The ordering code selects whether they hold absolute values (A), bidirectional import and export values (B) or custom settings (C), and whether tariff modules split the counters between two tariffs. The LCD can show E1 to E4 plus power, reactive power, apparent power, power factor, voltage, frequency and current.
Features stated in the technical documentation
- Basic current 5 A, maximum current 65 A, rated voltage 230 V.
- MID approval for WM1M6; class 1 and class B active energy, class 2 reactive energy.
- Optional RS485 Modbus RTU, pulse output at 1 imp/Wh, tariff input and push button for the LCD.
- Standard IR port that works with the WM-USB adapter at 19200 bit/s.
- Sealable terminal cover; 2 DIN modules wide.

Reading the ordering code
The data sheet code has this form: WM1-6 230 CP N A. The first part is meter type (WM1-6 or WM1M6 MID), then the voltage input range (230), the I/O module (WW none, TW tariff module, CW RS485, WP pulse output, TP tariff input plus pulse output, CP RS485 plus pulse output), a push button option (N no) and the counter setting (A absolute, B bidirectional, C custom).
With the default settings A and B, the counters are E1 active, E2 reactive for type A, or E1 to E4 as import and export active and reactive for type B. Tariff modules (TW, TP) change the counters to tariff-split versions. Custom settings allow Ep, Eq, Es, import and export in each of the four counters, with tariff none, T1, T2 or both.
Installation notes
The manual asks for the power to be disconnected at the main fuse or breaker, no voltage to be present and the disconnecting device to be secured against switching on. It also requires an overcurrent protection fuse of 65 A, with a rated breaking capacity of 1500 V stated for the ESKA 522.7.. fuse type, according to the wiring diagram.
Module work may be carried out only by a qualified and licensed electrician, and connection mode or load changes must be made with the supply disconnected. RS485 can run together with the IR port to control an Iskra BICOM bistable switch.
Typical uses
General engineering note: 65 A single-phase DIN meters are used for tenant, apartment, office and light-industrial sub-metering. The data sheet describes residential, industrial and utility applications. MID approval matters when the reading supports billing.
Related Iskra items
The IE14MD offers a single-phase 40 A meter one module wide with Modbus and NFC, while the WM3-6 is the three-phase counterpart. Browse the power meters category for the whole range.
Sub-metering in Oman and the GCC
Single-phase meters up to 65 A are used in the region to meter apartments, shops and offices, and for sub-metering air conditioning units, small pumps and lighting circuits. The Modbus option lets a building management system read each meter directly. Check the panel’s internal temperature in summer, and where readings are used for billing, confirm which approvals the local authority requires.
