Raytec SPX-WL84-EMX25 SPARTAN Linear WL84 Zone 1 Emergency LED

Description

SPX-WL84-EMX25 is the SPARTAN Linear WL84 Zone 1/21 LED luminaire with the EMX25 intelligent emergency option: 80 LEDs, about 3,065 lm on mains, and a self-testing battery that gives up to 3 hours at 25 percent power.

A fluorescent-tube replacement that is certified for hazardous areas

SPARTAN Linear has been designed with the same dimensions, fixing centres and cable entries as traditional fluorescent fittings, so it is a direct replacement in refineries, platforms and process buildings. The WL84 is the shorter body, 761 mm long on the datasheet sketch, with 80 LEDs and 24 W on mains (32 W for the emergency version).

The code is built from the datasheet part code builder: SPX is the Zone 1/21 family, WL84 the model, EMX25 the emergency option (25 percent output for 3 hours), with 6500 K, standard optics, 110 to 254 V and M20 entries left unstated because they are defaults. The marine-grade aluminium and UV-stabilised polycarbonate body has stainless fasteners, and key parts are accessible for maintenance under the modular design.

Key features as printed in the datasheet

  • Self-testing intelligent emergency with a tri-colour system health indicator; up to 3 hours at 25 percent power, Ni/Cd 12 V battery, 20 hour charge time.
  • Ex eb mb IIC T4 Gb for gas and Ex tb IIIC T80 degrees C Db for dust, as printed on the datasheet.
  • IP66 and IP67, IK10 impact rating, ABS certificate number 25-0220600-PDA.
  • DALI 2.0 is offered on non-emergency variants only, so it is not an option with EMX25.

Reading the part code and choosing options

The datasheet part code builder gives these fields: model WL84, WL168, WL84-1200 or WL168-1500; emergency EMX25 or DA for DALI; variant T6; CCT 4K; optics; LV or 277 for voltage; and entry M25. For this code only the model and emergency option are stated. The longer WL168 gives 6,130 lm and 49 W on mains; the WL84-1200 and WL168-1500 are longer bodies of 1,311 mm and 1,650 mm.

The Essential versions (WL84-LL, WL168-LL) have two M20 entries at one end and no emergency option. Safety shower (green, 519 nm) and wildlife-friendly (amber, 600 nm) specials are listed separately with example codes SPX-WL168-G and SPX-WL168-4K-A. Confirm voltage, emergency duration and mounting before ordering.

Installation, battery and maintenance notes

Raytec cites installation guide 0920-D-00042 and battery care document 0010-D-00001 for this product, and a Linear mounting and accessories guide for brackets. The emergency battery needs 20 hours to charge before the duration rating is reached, and the datasheet temperature range for emergency variants narrows to -20 to +50 °C.

Because the gland entries are ATEX-approved blanking plugs, only certified cable glands and stopping plugs may be used in the open entries. Follow the certificate conditions and the installation guide; this page does not replace them.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Typical uses are refinery and gas plant buildings, offshore support platforms, tank farm pump houses, battery rooms and process units where Zone 1/21 classification applies. The emergency version provides local escape lighting from the same fitting. The IP66/IP67 rating helps in dust and washdown.
