Paxton 489-710 Net2 I/O Board 4-Input 4-Output Ethernet Module
Description
489-710 is the Paxton Net2 I/O board: four inputs and four mains-rated relay outputs on a single network board that connects to the LAN through an RJ45 socket and is driven by Net2 triggers and actions.
Using the access control network to switch building services
The Net2 I/O board is not a door controller. The datasheet says it is wired alongside a Net2 controller to switch power to electrical equipment, saving energy and money, and it can control lighting, heating, water and air conditioning. Actions are programmed in the Net2 software for a given time or in response to a particular Net2 event, for example enabling a lift floor or releasing a barrier.
Boards can be spread around a building because each one connects directly to the LAN or WAN. The datasheet lists three versions: this PCB-only code 489-710, 385-710 in a plastic housing and 411-623 mounted in a boxed 2 A mains-monitored power supply with plastic cabinet.
Key features as printed in the datasheet
- Four inputs and four outputs per board; each relay is rated for 15 A in the datasheet.
- On-board RJ45 Ethernet, 100 Mbit/s auto-MDIX, DHCP supported (fixed IP recommended).
- Clear, intuitive terminal labelling and the same rising-clamp connectors as the Net2 control unit.
- Configured through the Triggers and Actions feature of the Net2 software.

Which I/O board code to order
Order 489-710 when the board will be mounted inside an existing cabinet with a 10 to 24 V DC supply. Choose 385-710 when a plastic enclosure is needed on the wall, and 411-623 when the board should come with a 12 V 2 A mains-monitored supply and cabinet.
Each board only provides four relay channels, so a site with many lighting circuits or plant items needs several boards or an external contactor stage. Confirm the load type, contact rating and Net2 software version before ordering.
Wiring and configuration notes
A label on the board clearly shows the connections. Inputs and outputs are configured in the Net2 software using triggers and actions. Because the board connects to LAN or WAN only, it needs a network point and an IP address, and the datasheet suggests a fixed address.
The relay contacts are rated 240 V AC at 15 A with 4 kV isolation, but the board is not moisture resistant; mount it in a dry cabinet and keep mains and low-voltage wiring segregated, as in any switchboard.
Applications for I/O switching
Typical uses named by Paxton include lighting, heating and air-conditioning control, plus lift and gate integration. In a Gulf building this can mean switching a corridor lighting circuit or a ventilation fan when the first person badges in, or releasing a roller shutter motor contactor at set times.
Selection and installation notes
Access control is designed door by door: the door type, the lock, the reader position, the exit method and the fire release all need to be settled before the equipment is chosen. Fit the unit on the secure side where the maker advises, run cable of the type and length the data sheet allows, test the lock release on power failure and fire alarm, and keep a record of the user and token set-up. Check local fire and security rules before commissioning.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
