Paxton 337-620 Entry Touch Door Entry Panel, Surface Mount

337-620 is the surface-mount Paxton Entry Touch panel: a premium external door-entry panel with a 7-inch capacitive colour touchscreen, full-duplex audio, camera and proximity reader in a 316L stainless steel housing.

A touchscreen entrance directory with access control built in

Where the Standard panel uses a bell button and keypad, the Touch panel replaces them with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen that the datasheet lists with an anti-glare coating, auto brightness, a low-light LED and optical bonding. Paxton says the screen supports personalisation, and that with the Entry Premium monitor the panel supports two-way video calling and video voicemail.

The panel has a line-out for a T-loop antenna for hearing-aid users and the datasheet gives full-duplex audio. Like all Entry panels it is powered by PoE, talks IPv6 and is linked to an Entry control unit; the same Net2 or Paxton10 software administers its access functions.

Touch panel codes and what the screen adds

The datasheet lists three Touch panel codes: 337-620 surface mount, 337-610 surface mount with rain hood and 337-600 flush mount. The stainless steel body and touchscreen suit entrances where a visible directory and a corrosion-resistant face are wanted.

Mounting, cabling and networking

Components join with CAT5 or standard RJ45 patch cables and PoE removes the need for a separate supply at the panel. If the building network is shared it must support IPv6 and PoE switches, and the call bandwidth of 1 Mb/s per panel should be checked with the IT owner. A second IP camera can be added for blind spots, and the monitor can switch between the two views.

The Touch panel suits residential towers, hotel staff entrances, marinas, gated compounds and corporate lobbies where a name directory and a sturdy stainless face are expected. The 316L marine-grade material is relevant to salt-laden coastal air, but the datasheet gives only IPX5 and IK7, so shaded mounting is still advisable in strong summer sun.

Selection and installation notes

Access control is designed door by door: the door type, the lock, the reader position, the exit method and the fire release all need to be settled before the equipment is chosen. Fit the unit on the secure side where the maker advises, run cable of the type and length the data sheet allows, test the lock release on power failure and fire alarm, and keep a record of the user and token set-up. Check local fire and security rules before commissioning.
