Banner SSA-EB1P-02 Emergency Stop Push Button, 40 mm

Description

A 40 mm mushroom E-stop with two normally closed safety contacts

The SSA-EB1P-02 is a standard 40 mm electro-mechanical emergency stop push button from Banner Engineering’s SSA-EB series. It has two normally closed safety contacts and no monitor contacts (the -02 suffix), a non-illuminated actuator, and push-to-stop, pull-to-release or twist-to-release operation per IEC 60947-5-5. The latching design complies with ISO 13850, and the contacts open by direct (positive) opening action.

The buttons are designed to mount through a 30 mm panel hole in a mushroom style, so one cut-out suits both the 40 mm and 44 mm lockable actuators. The standard 40 mm and 60 mm versions are re-armed by pulling or twisting the red actuator clockwise.

Choosing the right SSA-EB variant

The manual’s model table is built on three actuator styles and five contact blocks. Non-illuminated standard 40 mm models are SSA-EB1P, standard 60 mm are SSA-EB2P and lockable 44 mm are SSA-EB1MP, each available as -02 (2 NC), -04 (4 NC), -11 (1 NC and 1 NO), -13 (3 NC and 1 NO) and -22 (2 NC and 2 NO). Illuminated versions use a built-in red LED that needs 24 V AC/DC plus or minus 10 percent at 5 mA typical.

The two-NC-contact -02 block is the usual choice for a dual-channel safety circuit feeding a safety relay or controller. All -02 models can also be used with Banner’s SSA-ISD-TCA ISD Connect adapter using an MQDMC-5xx(RA) series cable.

Installation and what to check

The standards cited in the manual, including NFPA 79, ANSI B11.19, IEC/EN 60204-1 and ISO 13850, specify how emergency stop devices are to be coloured and applied. An E-stop actuator is to be red on a yellow background where possible, and of the palm or mushroom-head type. The installer is responsible for the circuit and for the risk assessment.

Before ordering, check the contact configuration against the safety module inputs and confirm whether a lockable 44 mm or a 60 mm actuator is required by the machine.

About brand

Banner Engineering is the American maker of industrial sensors, indicator lights, wireless monitoring and machine safety products. Bob Fayfield founded it in 1966 as a small engineering firm in the Minneapolis area. The company is privately held and still based in Minnesota.

Seven Star LLC lists Banner devices including the Q4X rugged stainless steel laser distance sensor and the K50 Pro Beacon IO-Link multicolor RGB indicator, and supplies Banner sensors and indicators to plants and machine builders in Oman.

Ordering Banner products: what we need

Send the complete Banner model number from the device label, because range, output type and connector are all coded into it. For the Q4X, state the measuring distance, the output your PLC input needs and the connector or cable style. For indicators, give the housing size, control method and voltage. Mating cordsets and brackets can be included for GCC orders.
