EUCHNER ZSB054784 Three-Stage Enabling Switch with +/- Buttons
Description
Three-stage enabling switch with illuminated plus and minus buttons
The EUCHNER ZSB054784 is a handheld three-stage enabling switch from the ZSB series, in housing size G3 with a 7 m coiled connecting cable. It is used where an operator must move a robot, handling axis or machine in setup or teach mode with the guards open. Motion is enabled only in the middle position of the enabling button, and both releasing the button and pressing it fully through (the panic position) remove the enable signal.
The ZSB differs from a plain enabling switch by two illuminated pushbuttons, a plus and a minus button, that the machine builder can assign freely, for example to jog an axis in the positive or negative direction. The yellow plastic housing has a slide-in label and a holder is included.

Using a three-stage enabling switch
In stage 1 the button is released and the enabling contacts are open. In stage 2, the centre position, the contacts are closed and the controller may permit hazardous motion at reduced speed. In stage 3 the button is pressed through and the contacts open again. The exact switching sequence depends on the wiring, so follow the function sequence and travel diagram in the operating instructions.
The enabling contacts must be evaluated in two channels by a suitable safety relay or safety controller, and the B10D value belongs in the PL calculation with the expected number of operations. The cable ends in flying leads, so it is terminated in a junction box or with a connector chosen by the machine builder. EUCHNER also offers ZSB versions with other housings, straight cables, plug connectors, key-operated switches and selector switches.
Documents and quotation
The EUCHNER operating instructions for the ZSB enabling switch, available from the official product page linked below, cover wiring, function sequence and safety data. For a quotation, give the order number 054784, the quantity and the safety relay or controller it will connect to. Related safety devices are under Safety Switches and Guard Locking.
Where the ZSB054784 fits in a safety concept
Standards for robots and machinery allow work inside a guarded area during setup, teaching or troubleshooting only when hazardous motion is restricted, for example by reduced speed, and when the operator holds an enabling device. The ZSB054784 provides that enabling function. Its three-stage design reflects how people react to danger: they either let go of the button or clench it hard. Both reactions stop motion, because only the middle position enables. EUCHNER lists characteristic values for EN ISO 13849-1 and EN IEC 62061, and the device carries CCC, DGUV and cULus approvals.
The plus and minus buttons are separate, non-safety elements. They are wired to standard controller inputs and give the operator a convenient way to jog an axis or step through a sequence, while the enabling contacts remain the safety function. The illumination can signal states such as “axis selected” or “jog active”.
Selection checklist for the ZSB054784
- Confirm that a three-stage enabling device with two NO enabling contacts and one positively driven NC contact matches the safety relay or safe controller.
- Check that a 7 m coiled cable gives enough reach in the cell; other cable lengths and connectors are available in the ZSB range.
- Decide how the flying leads will be terminated: junction box, cabinet terminals or a connector.
- Plan the use of the plus and minus buttons and their lamp supply in the PLC program.
- Verify the ambient temperature at the workplace stays within -5 to +50 °C.
Installation and maintenance
Connect the screened cable cores as shown in the operating instructions and ground the overall screen. Wire the enabling contacts in two channels to a safety relay or safe controller that detects cross-circuits and checks that both channels switch together. Use the included holder to store the device where it cannot be damaged by moving machinery. Test the three-stage function at commissioning and at regular intervals: released, middle position and pressed through. Replace the device when the B10D-based number of operations is reached or if the cap, housing or cable is damaged.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
The ZSB054784 is used for teaching and setup on welding robots, palletising and handling robots, machine tools, presses and special-purpose assembly machines, wherever an operator must observe motion closely inside the guarded area.
Why source from Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC supplies EUCHNER enabling switches and safety devices across Oman and the GCC. Our team can help confirm the correct ordering code and accessories before you request a quote.
When planning a teach pendant workstation, remember that the enabling device is only one part of the safety function. A risk assessment should define the reduced speed, the stop category used when enabling is released, how the emergency stop is provided, and how the operator selects the setup mode. The ZSB054784 then supplies the hand-held enabling input that ties these measures together.

About brand
EUCHNER is a German manufacturer of safety switches, guard locking systems and safety controls for machine safety, founded in 1940 and headquartered in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart. The family-owned company is best known for its guard locking and transponder-coded safety switches.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list EUCHNER safety components for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.
EUCHNER product series
Guard locking switches include the transponder-coded CTP, CTA and CTS series, the CTM with BiState guard locking, the STP twin switch and the electromechanical TX1B and TZ series. The MGB2 Multifunctional Gate Box combines guard locking, handle and control elements on one door. Non-contact switches include the CES-IA set and the CES-AP RFID safety switch, and the CTP-I version provides monitoring without guard locking.
Control devices include the ZSM and ZSB three-position enabling switches, the RPS emergency stop rope pull switch, the ESM safety relays (including versions with time-delayed contacts and the ESM-TE301 expansion) and the MSC modular safety controller.
Where EUCHNER components are used
Safety guards and doors on machine tools, robot cells, presses, packaging machines and conveyor systems, emergency stop along conveyors and enabling during setup and teaching. A switch or actuator is one part of a safety function; the complete system must be designed and validated for its application.
Ordering EUCHNER components: what we need
Send the full order number or item number from the label, the coding level and actuator required, the supply voltage and the connection type. For replacements, also give the installed device details and the mating components such as actuators and handle modules.
