EUCHNER MGB2-H-BA1A3-R Handle Module

Description

Door handle and bolt tongue for the MGB2 door system

The EUCHNER MGB2-H-BA1A3-R (order no. 136691) is the handle module of the EUCHNER MGB2 multifunctional gate box. It is mounted on the moving door leaf and carries the door handle and the bolt tongue. When the door is closed, the bolt tongue enters the locking or interlocking module on the fixed frame, where a transponder detects it safely. EUCHNER offers the handle module for use with its MGB2 Classic and MGB2 Modular systems.

This version has a door handle, a fold-out lockout mechanism and a second lockout mechanism that extends automatically when the handle is operated. It is set for doors hinged on the right in the factory, and the actuating direction can be changed for left-hinged doors as described in the operating instructions.

Lockout for maintenance and cleaning

For service work, the bolt tongue can be blocked with up to three padlocks on the fold-out lockout mechanism, which prevents the handle from being operated. The automatic lockout extends when the handle is turned and accepts three more padlocks. With six locks, several maintenance staff can each secure the door personally before entering the danger zone, which is a common requirement in lock-out procedures.

Building a complete MGB2 door

A working MGB2 door needs at least the handle module and a matching locking or interlocking module, plus mounting material. EUCHNER offers the mounting plate AM-P-H-156683 for quick mounting and module replacement, a door knob AY-DKB-S1-157017 as an alternative to the handle (for example on sliding doors), and escape releases such as MGB-E-A-100465 for door profiles up to 40 mm, so a person trapped inside the cell can open the door from within. Check the door profile thickness and the hinge side before ordering.

How the MGB2-H-BA1A3-R Handle Module Works

The EUCHNER MGB2 system splits a safety door into modules. The handle module MGB2-H-BA1A3-R is mounted on the moving door. When the door is closed and the handle is turned, the bolt tongue moves into the locking or interlocking module on the frame. The locking module detects the bolt tongue with a coded transponder, which makes defeat by a simple magnet or tool much harder than with basic switches. Depending on the locking module, the bolt tongue can also be locked so the door cannot be opened while the machine is running or has a hazardous run-down, which is called guard locking.

The handle module itself has no electrical parts. This makes it simple to fit to the moving door without trailing cables, while all wiring is on the fixed frame side.

Why Personal Lockout Matters

Personal lockout lets each person who enters a machine cell fit their own padlock. While any lock is in place, the bolt tongue cannot be moved into the locking module, so the door cannot be closed and locked and the machine cannot be started from outside. Each person removes only their own lock when they leave, which supports a safe lock-out and tag-out routine.

Selection & Ordering Guide for the MGB2-H-BA1A3-R

  • Confirm the hinge side; the -R version is set for right-hinged doors and the -L for left.
  • Check compatibility with the MGB2 Classic or Modular locking module in use.
  • Decide on accessories: mounting plate, door knob or escape release.
  • Check the door profile and padlock shackle sizes used on site.

Our team can help confirm the correct ordering code.

Installation & Maintenance

  • Align the handle module and locking module carefully so the bolt tongue enters without force.
  • Adjust the door so it does not sag; sagging doors cause wear and false trips.
  • Check the function of the bolt tongue and lockouts during routine safety checks.
  • Keep the modules clean; IP65 protection resists dust and water jets but not mechanical damage.

Interlocking vs Guard Locking

An interlocking device only detects whether the door is closed; opening the door sends a stop command. A guard locking device also keeps the door locked until it is safe to open, for example after a spindle, robot or flywheel has come to rest. Machines with long run-down times or stored energy usually need guard locking, which is provided by the MGB2 locking module paired with this handle module. The required type follows from the risk assessment and standards such as EN ISO 14119.

Escape Release

Where a person could be shut inside a cell, an escape release fitted on the inside of the door lets them open it without tools, even when the door is locked. This is an important consideration for walk-in robot cells and large machine enclosures, and it should be planned together with the handle module and door profile.

Typical Applications in Oman & the GCC

The handle module suits robot cells, palletizers, packaging lines, machine tools and automated production lines across Oman and the GCC where safety doors need personal lockout and secure guard locking.

About brand

EUCHNER is a German manufacturer of safety switches, guard locking systems and safety controls for machine safety, founded in 1940 and headquartered in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart. The family-owned company is best known for its guard locking and transponder-coded safety switches.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list EUCHNER safety components for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

EUCHNER product series

Guard locking switches include the transponder-coded CTP, CTA and CTS series, the CTM with BiState guard locking, the STP twin switch and the electromechanical TX1B and TZ series. The MGB2 Multifunctional Gate Box combines guard locking, handle and control elements on one door. Non-contact switches include the CES-IA set and the CES-AP RFID safety switch, and the CTP-I version provides monitoring without guard locking.

Control devices include the ZSM and ZSB three-position enabling switches, the RPS emergency stop rope pull switch, the ESM safety relays (including versions with time-delayed contacts and the ESM-TE301 expansion) and the MSC modular safety controller.

Where EUCHNER components are used

Safety guards and doors on machine tools, robot cells, presses, packaging machines and conveyor systems, emergency stop along conveyors and enabling during setup and teaching. A switch or actuator is one part of a safety function; the complete system must be designed and validated for its application.

Ordering EUCHNER components: what we need

Send the full order number or item number from the label, the coding level and actuator required, the supply voltage and the connection type. For replacements, also give the installed device details and the mating components such as actuators and handle modules.
