Brand:

Gent VIG-MIM-A3 Vigilon A3 Zonal and Graphic Mimic Panel

Description

A pictorial building layout for quick fire location

The Gent VIG-MIM-A3 Vigilon A3 Mimic gives a pictorial representation of a building layout, which gives a rapid visual indication of where a fire incident is. It can also show fault and supervisory events from the system. One panel can work as a zonal mimic or hold a pictorial overlay for a customised view.

The panel illumination defaults to a zonal mimic but can be programmed during commissioning to be a customised mimic. The customised version can be mounted in landscape or portrait, while the zonal version must be mounted landscape when using the supplied overlay. The panel is supplied with pre-printed and blank UV-protected A3 sheets.

Where a mimic helps

A mimic suits large or multi-wing buildings where responders must see the affected zone at a glance, such as hospitals, hotels, campuses and plant administration blocks. With up to 4 mimics or repeat panels per loop and site-programmable LEDs, a single A3 panel can be set up to follow the floor plan rather than a zone list.

The datasheet shows the mimic fed from the Vigilon Plus system, with the control panel, call points, sounders and interfaces on the loop. Our Gent VIGPLUS-72 Vigilon Plus control panel is the matching 1 to 6 loop panel on this site.

Status and points to confirm

Honeywell’s UK product page for the Vigilon A3 mimic panel shows a Discontinued notice, so treat VIG-MIM-A3 as a legacy item and confirm availability. Also read the power note on the datasheet: it states the panel has its own mains-derived supply with battery, while the connection diagram marks repeat panels and mimics as needing an external supply, so settle the power arrangement with the system designer. Related items are in the logic controller category.

How the Gent VIG-MIM-A3 mimic panel works

A mimic panel is a repeater that shows the state of a fire system on a drawing of the building. The VIG-MIM-A3 holds 1536 red LEDs behind an A3 sheet. Each LED can be programmed on site to show a zone, a room or a wing, and the site program is stored in flash memory, so a change does not need new LEDs or new electronics. The panel is connected to the Vigilon loop, and when the control panel detects a fire, a fault or a supervisory event, the matching LED lights. Responders can then see the affected area at a glance, before they read the display on the main panel.

Where the VIG-MIM-A3 is used

  • Hospitals and care buildings with many wings.
  • Hotels and apartment blocks.
  • Campuses, schools and offices.
  • Plant administration buildings and large workshops.
  • Any site where the fire brigade needs a quick picture of the layout.

Selection checklist for the VIG-MIM-A3

  • Format: zonal mimic of up to 128 zones, or a customised pictorial overlay.
  • Mounting: landscape for the supplied zonal overlay, landscape or portrait for a custom one.
  • Quantity: a maximum of four mimics or repeat panels per loop.
  • Batteries: two 6 V and 7 Ah units, with 24 hours standby and 30 minutes of alarm.
  • Battery standby upgrade to 72 hours, where the site requires it.
  • Weight of 7.9 kg without batteries and 10.5 kg with them.
  • Operating temperature from 0 to +45 degrees C.
  • Standards: EN54 Parts 2 and 4.
  • Related items, such as repeat panels, battery packs and flush mounting parts.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Mount the panel at a height and position where it can be seen at the building entrance or near the main panel, and use the rear cable entry. Connect it to the loop, then program the LED assignments during commissioning, using the site layout drawing. Print or fit the overlay sheet, which is supplied in UV-protected A3 form, and check each LED against a test alarm from the real device. Test the standby batteries at each service.

Requesting a quotation for the Gent VIG-MIM-A3

Send the number of zones, the building layout and the control panel type. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

Zonal mimic or customised mimic

The panel lights as a zonal mimic by default. In commissioning it can be set up as a customised mimic, so the LEDs follow the floor plan rather than a list of zone numbers.

Fault and supervisory indication

Besides fire, the LEDs can show faults and supervisory events, which helps the staff see problems before they grow.

Records of the site program

Keep a copy of the LED program and the overlay drawing with the system documents.

Documents and quotation

Download the Vigilon A3 Mimic datasheet from this page. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat; please send the building zone list, panel type and any overlay drawings with your RFQ so the code and accessories can be confirmed.

About brand

Vigilon is the analog addressable fire alarm system that has made Gent a familiar name on British-specified buildings. The company's roots go back to 1872 in Leicester, and its panels and loop devices are designed to EN 54. Seven Star LLC supplies Gent fire alarm panels and system parts to contractors and facility teams in Oman, including Vigilon control panels and loop cards for existing sites.

Gent Vigilon panels and parts listed here

Three of the items on this page are panel parts. The Vigilon Compact Plus is the smaller panel for one or two loops. The Vigilon Plus, listed as VIGPLUS-72, is the larger control panel for one to six loops with 72-hour standby capacity. The VIG-LPC-EN loop card adds or replaces a loop circuit in the VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 panels. On the loops, Gent uses its own device families, notably S-Quad devices that combine multi-sensor detection with sounder, voice and visual alarm options.

Ordering Gent fire alarm parts: what we need

Gent systems are configured per site, so details matter. Send the part number from the panel or card label, the panel type and number of loops, the panel firmware version if shown, and the device types on the loop. For a new panel, state loops required, network cards, printer or repeater options and battery size. We supply to projects in the GCC and check each part number against the manufacturer's documentation.
