Kidde ARIES-MLX Multi-Loop Addressable Suppression Control Unit
Description
A modular platform for multi-hazard plants
The Kidde ARIES-MLX is an intelligent, addressable, multi-loop fire alarm and suppression control unit for demanding applications that protect several hazards. The base unit has two signaling line circuits with 255 addresses each, and its modular card cage grows it to eight loops and 2,040 addressable devices per control unit. Sixty-four such units can be networked for 130,560 addresses, subject to limitations noted in the datasheet.

Choosing between SLX and MLX
Choose the MLX when a site needs more than one loop, more relays, or larger battery capacity than the single-loop ARIES-SLX offers. Its card cage accepts SLC cards, release/NAC cards, relay cards, a city tie card, Modbus and BACnet modules, internet communication, DACT, and network interface cards. Fiber-optic converter modules exist for multimode and single-mode fiber for long network runs between nodes.
Integration options include air sampling and high-sensitivity smoke detection through protocol interface cards, linear heat sensor cable through addressable inputs, and a retrofit kit for legacy PEGAsys panels. The configuration tool ACT-MLX is used to program control-by-event logic, and an automatic SLC device-test routine checks devices in groups of 32 and narrows a fault to the failed device.
What to confirm before ordering
A specification needs the enclosure size (2-Tier or 3-Tier), the number of loops and addresses, release and notification circuit counts, battery capacity, the region version (standard, ULC or Chicago) and any network or fiber modules. Cards, enclosures, trim rings, dead fronts and spare parts have separate order numbers in the datasheet, so list them individually. Programming and acceptance testing belong to the fire contractor of record.

About brand
Engineered fire suppression hardware, cylinders, valves and the control heads that release them, is the side of Kidde that industrial sites deal with. The name goes back to 1917. Seven Star LLC lists Kidde clean agent cylinders, control heads and pilot cylinders, and supplies Kidde fire systems parts to operators and fire contractors in Oman as an independent supplier. Household smoke alarms and aircraft systems sold under the same name are outside our scope.
Kidde fire suppression parts listed here
The listed items are release-train components: the WK-890181-000 electric control head, a 24 V DC unit used on Kidde FM-200 systems, an FM-200 (HFC-227ea) clean agent cylinder in the 200 lb size, and the K62462 pilot gas cylinder. Kidde also builds high-pressure CO2 systems with their own control heads and nitrogen pilot cylinders. Typical sites in the GCC are turbine enclosures, switchgear and control rooms, data halls and marine machinery spaces.
Ordering Kidde parts: what we need
Kidde components are ordered by part number, so send it exactly as printed on the label or in the system drawings. For an agent cylinder we also need the fill weight, valve type and the transport documents required. Send the nameplate photo and the system design reference whenever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Two SLCs come as standard, each with 255 addresses. Up to six more SLC cards can be added, for eight loops and 2,040 devices per control unit.
Yes. Up to 64 nodes can be networked for 130,560 addresses, with some limitations, using network interface cards and optional fiber converters.
Up to 165 Ah. The panel cabinet itself holds a pair of 12 or 17 Ah batteries, with a 40 Ah maximum inside.
The datasheet lists Modbus RTU and TCP/IP and BACnet MS/TP and IP through add-on modules, plus a DACT card.
They are two enclosure sizes, 22-1/2 inch and 31-1/2 inch tall, with part numbers 76-800200-901 and 76-800100-901. The larger one has more room for cards and batteries.
