Adam Luna LAB 124e Analytical Balance, 120 g x 0.0001 g
Description
The Adam Luna LAB 124e is a 120 g analytical balance with 0.0001 g (0.1 mg) readability for general laboratory weighing: sample preparation, reagent and standard weighing, density work and quality control. It is one of eight models in the Luna LAB family, with capacities from 80 g to 250 g and a choice of external or internal automatic calibration.
An analytical balance for routine laboratory work
The Luna uses a backlit LCD with 24 mm digits, colour-coded navigation keys, an 80 mm diameter grade 304 stainless steel pan and a draught shield with 192 x 195 x 230 mm internal space. The level indicator and adjustable feet help set the balance up correctly, a sealed keypad protects against spills and a Kensington-type security slot allows a lock and cable. USB and RS-232 interfaces send data to computers and printers, and printouts carry date and time to support Good Laboratory Practice records.
Applications listed are weighing, parts counting, percentage weighing, dynamic or animal weighing, density determination, checkweighing, check counting and net total weighing, with a multilingual display.

Adam lists an AVT anti-vibration table, USB and RS-232 cables, an in-use cover, an ATP 2 thermal printer, an AIP impact printer, a Kensington-type lock and cable, the AdamDU data collection program, an ABI-1 ioniser for static-prone samples and OIML E2 calibration weight sets and single weights. Place an analytical balance on a stable bench away from draughts, direct sunlight and vibration, within the 15 to 35 C range, and allow it to settle before use.
Which Luna model to select
Choose the capacity that covers the heaviest container plus sample. The e models use external calibration with test weights, while the i models add internal automatic calibration, which helps where the balance sees temperature change or frequent use. Readability, repeatability and linearity are identical across the family, so the capacity and calibration style are the deciding factors. A balance of this class is not listed with a legal-for-trade approval in the datasheet.
What to confirm before ordering
Confirm capacity, e or i calibration, the need for an anti-vibration table, calibration weights, a printer, and the plug type of the 18 VDC adapter. Other laboratory and test instruments are listed under portable test and measurement instruments.
Using an analytical balance: switch on the balance and allow the electronics to settle before first use, level it with the indicator and feet, close the draught shield during weighing and avoid touching the pan with bare hands. Use clean, dry containers at room temperature, because a warm or cold sample causes drift, and tare the container before adding the sample. The e models should be checked with external calibration weights, while the i models can run internal automatic calibration; in either case record the checks if the balance supports a quality or GLP system, since printouts carry date and time.
