The Alfa Laval T20 is a gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchanger from the Alfa Laval Industrial line, offered with a large selection of plate and gasket types so one frame concept can serve many duties. Alfa Laval lists applications from energy and utilities, chemicals, marine, steel, pulp and paper, mining, HVAC and refrigeration to water and wastewater treatment. The plate pack can be opened for inspection and cleaning, and heat transfer area can be changed later by adding or removing plates.

Extended pressure and temperature ratings may be available on request, and not every combination in the leaflet is available in every region, so the exact frame, code and gasket must be confirmed at quotation.
Choosing plate type, frame and gaskets
The three plate types differ in free channel: the B plate (1.9 mm) suits clean, low-viscosity duties, the P plate (2.9 mm) is a mid-range choice and the M plate (4.0 mm) tolerates fibres and larger particles. Gasket material is chosen from the media and temperature; EPDM and NBR cover most water and oil duties while FKM and HeatSeal are for higher temperature or aggressive media. Titanium or 254 plates are the usual route for seawater and chloride-bearing cooling water. The frame code (FM, FG, FD, FS) fixes the design pressure, and the rating differs between pvcALS, ASME and PED approvals, so state the design code of your project.
