ADLINK MVP-6200 Expandable Fanless Industrial Computer

Description

Overview

The ADLINK MVP-6200 is an expandable, modular fanless industrial computer from ADLINK Technology’s Matrix range, designed for edge servers, automated optical inspection and AI vision equipment that need both desktop-class processing and real PCIe card slots. It is built on the Intel® R680E chipset and supports Intel® Core™ Series 2 processors as well as 12th, 13th and 14th Gen Intel® Core™ processors up to 65 W, in a sealed chassis rated for 24/7 operation. Two mechanical versions are offered: the MVP-622x with two expansion slots and the MVP-624x with four, so the ADLINK MVP-6200 can carry GPU accelerators, frame grabbers, motion control or I/O cards alongside its integrated industrial interfaces.

Seven Star LLC supplies the ADLINK MVP-6200 family to system integrators, machine builders and plant owners in Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. We help select the slot count, processor, memory and add-in cards for each project and coordinate the 280 W power adapter and operating system licences that complete the system.

Operating Principle

The ADLINK MVP-6200 keeps its processor, chipset and memory cool without a system fan. The large finned aluminium heat sink that forms one side of the housing is thermally coupled to the CPU and R680E chipset, and it releases heat to the surrounding cabinet air by natural convection. The datasheet rates operation from −20°C to 60°C with 35 W processors and −20°C to 50°C with 65 W processors, with storage from −40°C to 85°C, and humidity up to 95% at 40°C non-condensing.

Because no fan pulls air across the main board, the ADLINK MVP-6200 resists dust and avoids the most common mechanical failure of conventional industrial PCs. ADLINK specifies 5 Grms random vibration from 5 to 500 Hz on three axes and 50 G operating shock with SSD storage, together with EN61000-6-4/-2 emission and immunity compliance, CE and FCC Class A, UL/cUL, CB and CCC approvals. Add-in cards placed in the expansion section can be selected by the integrator according to their own thermal rating.

Engineering Design of the ADLINK MVP-6200

The ADLINK MVP-6200 uses four SODIMM sockets with ECC memory support; ADLINK lists DDR5 memory with a maximum of 196 GB, and factory configurations ship with 16 GB to 128 GB. Storage is handled by two SATA bays for 2.5-inch drives with RAID 0/1/5/10 support, an M.2 M-key 2280 socket, an M.2 B-key 3052/3042 socket for cellular modules and an M.2 A+E-key 2230 socket for wireless. Six SMA antenna positions are provided on the housing. Networking consists of three 2.5GbE ports on Intel i225 controllers with Time-Sensitive Networking support, one of them with vPro, and display output comes from two HDMI 1.4b and two DP++ 1.4 ports.

Front-accessible I/O on the ADLINK MVP-6200 includes four USB 3.2 Gen 2 and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, COM1 and COM2 as RS-232/422/485 and COM3 and COM4 as RS-232, an 8-channel DI and 8-channel DO block, line-out and mic-in audio, two I2C buses and LED indicators for storage, watchdog, diagnostics and three user functions. The two-slot backplane provides one PCIe 4.0 x16 and one PCI slot, while the four-slot version provides one PCIe 4.0 x16, two PCIe 3.0 x4 and one PCI slot. ADLINK’s adaptive function module slot allows custom connectors, circuits or extra standard I/O. The unit runs from 9 to 32 VDC, with an optional 280 W AC/DC adapter (P/N 31-62162-1010-A0), and is wall mounted.

Industrial Applications

For oil and gas, power and water operators, the ADLINK MVP-6200 serves as an edge data server that aggregates data from many field gateways, runs historian or analytics software close to the process and keeps working if the link to the central data centre is lost. In control rooms of gas processing plants, independent power producers and desalination facilities, its four display outputs and expansion slots allow it to drive operator workstations or host specialised communication cards for legacy networks.

ADLINK positions the platform for smart manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, warehouse automation, AOI visual inspection and AI vision equipment, and these uses match the needs of manufacturers in the Sohar, Salalah and Duqm zones, where a single ADLINK MVP-6200 can combine a GPU accelerator, multi-camera frame grabber and plant-network connection in one fanless box. Seven Star LLC supplies the ADLINK MVP-6200 with engineering support in Muscat for customers across Oman and the GCC.
