Rigol DSG830 3 GHz RF Signal Generator with AM/FM/PM
Description
A compact 3 GHz RF source for receiver and component testing
The Rigol DSG830 is the 9 kHz to 3 GHz model of the DSG800 RF signal generator series. RIGOL lists phase noise down to -112 dBc/Hz (typical), a maximum output of +20 dBm (typical), level accuracy up to 0.5 dB (typical) and AM, FM and phase modulation as standard, with a low-frequency (LF) output.
Typical jobs are driving a receiver or filter under test, providing a local-oscillator or interferer signal, and checking RF links and antenna systems alongside a spectrum analyzer. Related instruments are in Portable Test & Measurement.

Selecting a DSG800 model
The data sheet lists DSG815, DSG821, DSG821A, DSG830, DSG836 and DSG836A. The A models carry I/Q modulation and an I/Q baseband generator as standard. Options are DSG800-PUM (pulse modulation and pulse generator), DSG800-PUG (pulse train), OCXO-B08 (high-stability reference), RM-1-DG1000Z and RM-2-DG1000Z rack kits.
Operation notes
Specifications are valid when the instrument is within calibration, stored two hours at 0 to 50 degC and warmed up for 40 minutes; calibration is recommended every 18 months. Keep reverse power below 1 W and DC below 50 V on the RF output. The instrument has a quick guide in the box and a power cable only.
Where an RF source helps
Receiver sensitivity checks, filter and amplifier characterisation, calibration of spectrum analyzers and radio links, and teaching labs. Pair it with the Rigol DSA815-TG for transmission measurements across a device.
Selection and installation notes
Test and measurement instruments are selected from the accuracy, the range and the interfaces the work needs. Allow the warm-up time, use cables and attenuators rated for the signal level, keep the inputs inside the stated limits and keep the calibration current according to your quality system. Record the settings used for any test that must be repeated later.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
Related items
Rack mount kits RM-1-DG1000Z and RM-2-DG1000Z, OCXO-B08 reference and the pulse options are the only accessories listed in the data sheet. RF cables and attenuators should be chosen for your frequency range.
