Brand:

Siglent SPD3303X 3-Channel Programmable Linear DC Power Supply

Description

SPD3303X is a Siglent three-channel linear programmable DC power supply with two adjustable 0 to 32 V, 0 to 3.2 A outputs and one selectable 2.5, 3.3 or 5 V, 3.2 A output, 220 W total, a 4.3 inch colour display and 1 mV / 1 mA setting resolution.

A quiet linear bench supply with three isolated outputs

The three outputs are independently controlled and isolated. Channels 1 and 2 can run independently, in series (the datasheet notes a maximum of 60 V in series mode) or in parallel for more current; channel 3 provides a fixed logic-level rail of 2.5, 3.3 or 5 V at up to 3.2 A, handy for powering a microcontroller board while the other two supply analog rails. Each channel can be turned on and off separately, or all together.

Linear regulation keeps ripple and noise at or below 1 mV rms from 5 Hz to 1 MHz in constant-voltage mode, and an intelligent temperature-controlled fan reduces noise. The panel can display five groups of timing settings for simple programmed output sequences, and a real-time waveform display shows output behaviour on the screen.

Key features as printed in the datasheet

  • 5-digit voltage and 4-digit current display with 1 mV / 1 mA minimum resolution.
  • Output short-circuit and overload protection.
  • Five groups of settings stored internally, with data storage space expansion supported.
  • EasyPower PC software, SCPI commands and a LabVIEW driver.
  • Mains compatible for 100, 120, 220 and 230 V supplies.

SPD3303X or SPD3303X-E

The SPD3000X datasheet lists two product numbers with the same three-channel layout. SPD3303X is the high-resolution version with 1 mV / 1 mA resolution, 5-digit voltage and 4-digit current display and ±0.03 percent voltage accuracy. SPD3303X-E is the economy version with 10 mV / 10 mA resolution, a 4-digit voltage and 3-digit current display and ±0.5 percent of reading plus 2 digits accuracy. Choose SPD3303X when you need fine adjustment for sensor, reference or low-current work. Standard accessories are a USB cable, quick start guide, calibration certificate, power cord and two sets of output test cords.

Operating notes

Check the mains selection matches your supply, since the unit is designed for 100, 120, 220 and 230 V grids. The parallel mode combines the two adjustable channels for more current and the series mode doubles the voltage range, in both cases controlled from the front panel. Load and line regulation differ slightly between modes, as the table shows, so allow for that when working near limits. The operating specification assumes installation category II and pollution degree 2, which means a clean indoor workshop.

Typical bench uses in industrial workshops

A three-channel linear supply is a standard tool for powering and testing PLC I/O cards, sensors, relay boards, 24 V control circuits (using the two channels in series), logic boards (via channel 3) and LED loads. The datasheet states it can be used in production and development. Because it is a linear design with low ripple, it suits analog instrument and amplifier repair where switching noise would disturb measurements; at 220 W maximum it is not intended for high-power loads.

Selection and installation notes

Test and measurement instruments are selected from the accuracy, the range and the interfaces the work needs. Allow the warm-up time, use leads and probes rated for the voltage and category of the circuit, keep the inputs inside the stated limits and keep the calibration current according to your quality system. Record the settings used for any test that must be repeated later.
