Tektronix Keithley DMM7510 7.5-Digit Sampling Multimeter

Description

DMM7510 is a Keithley 7.5-digit graphical sampling multimeter from Tektronix: a precision DMM with a 14 ppm basic one-year DC voltage accuracy and a built-in 18-bit, 1 MS/s digitizer, shown on a five-inch capacitive touchscreen.

A reference-grade meter that can also draw waveforms

Resolution runs from 3.5 to 7.5 digits. The digitizing functions use the same ranges as the DC voltage and current functions, so a transient can be captured with the full dynamic range of the meter, and the voltage digitizer keeps the 10 GΩ input impedance option to limit loading of the circuit under test.

The buffer holds more than 11 million readings in standard mode or 27.5 million in compact mode, and the graphing utility compares up to four reading buffers on one display. Autocalibration reduces drift with temperature and time, and the datasheet gives two-year specifications for longer calibration cycles.

Key features as printed in the datasheet

  • 100 mV, 1 Ω and 10 µA lowest ranges for sleep-mode currents and low-level signals.
  • Offset-compensated ohms, four-wire and dry-circuit functions.
  • GPIB, USB-TMC and LXI-compliant LAN, with a front USB memory port.
  • TSP script language plus SCPI; TSP-Link expansion.
  • DMM7510-RACK version without a handle for rack use.

Ordering and services

Order DMM7510 for the bench version or DMM7510-RACK for the rack version with no handle. Included are the quick start guide, power cord, 1 m USB cable and 3 m LAN cable. Extended warranties (2, 3 or 5 years) and KeithleyCare standard, data and ISO 17025 calibration plans are listed as services. Test leads, Kelvin probes and rack kits are separate.

Operating notes

Plan for the 90-minute warm-up to rated accuracy and run autocalibration when ambient temperature changes, because the best DC specification applies within 30 days of autocalibration and within ±5 °C of the autocalibration temperature. Above 500 V, add 0.02 ppm per volt to the reading error. All specifications apply to front or rear terminals except the 10 A range, which is rear terminals only.

Calibration labs and electronics R&D

The very low resistance and current ranges suit bonding and contact-resistance checks, battery-powered device current profiling and transmitter calibration reference work. A calibration laboratory serving oil, gas and utilities customers in the region can use it as a check standard for lower-class meters, subject to its own accreditation. It is an indoor laboratory instrument with no ingress or hazardous-area rating printed.

Leads, probes and software

Keithley lists the 1754 universal lead kit, 5804 safety lead kit, 5805 and 5808 Kelvin probes, 5806 Kelvin clips, CA-18-1 shielded banana cable, GPIB cables and adapters, 8501-1 trigger link cable and 4299-8 and 4299-9 rack kits, plus KickStart and TSP Toolkit software. See the Portable Test and Measurement category.

Selection and installation notes

A bench multimeter is selected from the measurement accuracy, the resolution and the interfaces needed. Allow the warm-up time, use good-quality leads, keep the inputs inside the stated limits and use remote sense or shielding where low-level signals are measured. Plan the calibration interval according to your quality system.
