Brand:

Rigol DG832 35 MHz Dual-Channel Arbitrary Waveform Generator

Description

Two independent 35 MHz channels with 16-bit arbitrary output

The Rigol DG832 is the 35 MHz, two-channel model of the compact DG800 function/arbitrary waveform generator family. Its SiFi II (Signal Fidelity II) technology builds arbitrary waveforms point by point at an adjustable sample rate of up to 125 MSa/s with 16-bit vertical resolution, so output edges and jitter (200 ps in the datasheet) stay clean.

Both channels have the same performance, which makes it practical for stimulating sensor inputs, PLC test rigs, motor-encoder simulation and communications experiments. See other signal sources under Portable Test & Measurement.

Datasheet highlights

  • 160 built-in arbitrary waveforms; 2 Mpts per channel standard, 8 Mpts optional.
  • PRBS, RS232 pattern, dual-tone and harmonic (up to 8th order) outputs.
  • AM, FM, PM, ASK, FSK, PSK and PWM modulation, sweep and burst.
  • Built-in 7-digit, 240 MHz frequency counter and a 4.3 inch touch screen.

DG800 series order codes

DG811, DG821 and DG831 are single-channel 10, 20 and 30 MHz units; DG812, DG822 and DG832 are the dual-channel 10, 25 and 35 MHz units. The single-channel models can be made dual-channel with the DG800-DCH option. The DG832, DG831, DG822 and DG821 include one BNC cable, CB-BNC-BNC-MM-100.

Operation notes

All specifications are guaranteed after 30 minutes of continuous running at 23 degC +/-5 degC and within the calibration period. Frequency stability is +/-1 ppm and an external 10 MHz reference can be locked. Arbitrary sequence editing is built in, and waveforms can also be generated through the RIGOL PC software.

Mains input is 100 to 240 V at 45 to 65 Hz and under 30 W, and the 1.75 kg body is cooled naturally, so there is no fan noise in a teaching lab.

Uses in labs and workshops

Common uses are signal injection for sensor and transmitter boards, clock and pulse sources for digital debugging, encoder and tachometer simulation for drive testing, and university signal-processing labs. As a bench instrument rated 0 to 45 degC, keep it indoors in an air-conditioned space.

Options and accessories

DG800-DCH (second channel on single-channel models), DG800-ARB8M (8 Mpts), RA5040K 40 dB attenuator and the USB-GPIB-L converter are listed. Pair it with a scope such as the Rigol DHO814 or DS1104Z Plus to view outputs.

Selection and installation notes

Test and measurement instruments are selected from the accuracy, the range and the interfaces the work needs. Allow the warm-up time, use leads rated for the voltage and category of the circuit, keep the outputs and inputs inside the stated limits and keep the calibration current according to your quality system. Record the settings used for any test that must be repeated later.
