Rigol DG1022Z 25 MHz 2-Channel Function/Arbitrary Generator
Description
A 25 MHz two-channel generator with 14-bit arbitrary output and LAN
The Rigol DG1022Z is the entry model of the DG1000Z function/arbitrary waveform generator series, with two full-function independent channels, 25 MHz maximum sine frequency and 200 MSa/s sampling at 14 bits. RIGOL describes the series as combining a function generator, arbitrary waveform generator, noise generator, pulse generator, harmonics generator, analog/digital modulator and counter in one instrument.
Its phase noise (below -125 dBc/Hz at 10 MHz, 10 kHz offset, typical) and 200 ps jitter make it a low-noise bench source for teaching labs, sensor-interface development and production test. More instruments are in Portable Test & Measurement.
Datasheet highlights

Choosing within the DG1000Z series
All three models have two channels: DG1022Z (25 MHz), DG1032Z (30 MHz) and DG1062Z (60 MHz). The 1032Z and 1062Z come with 8 Mpts arbitrary memory against 2 Mpts on the DG1022Z. For a generator with 16-bit resolution and a touch screen, compare the DG800 series such as the Rigol DG832.
Setup notes
The datasheet requires that the generator be within its calibration period, self-calibrated, and running continuously for at least 30 minutes at 18 to 28 degC for the guaranteed specs. Output protection disables the waveform output automatically when overloaded. Standard accessories are a power cord, USB cable, BNC cable, quick guide and resource CD.
In practice the trade-offs against the DG800 family are clear from the two datasheets: the DG1022Z samples at 200 MSa/s with 14-bit resolution and a 3.5 inch 320 x 240 display, while the DG800 units use 125 MSa/s with 16 bits and a 4.3 inch touch screen. The DG1022Z also adds an 8th-order harmonic generator and a 200 MHz counter, with a 100 to 240 V mains input under 40 W.
Where it is used
University and training labs, electronics repair and calibration workshops, and R&D groups for utilities and process-control hardware use it to feed sensor simulators, test filters and drive clock or pulse inputs. It is a 0 to 50 degC bench instrument, so use an air-conditioned lab.
Options and accessories
Listed options: Arb16M-DG1000Z memory, RM-1-DG1000Z and RM-2-DG1000Z rack kits, RA5040K 40 dB attenuator, PA1011 10 W power amplifier and the USB-GPIB converter.
Selection and installation notes
Test and measurement instruments are selected from the accuracy, the range and the interfaces the work needs. Allow the warm-up time, use leads rated for the voltage and category of the circuit, keep the outputs and inputs inside the stated limits and keep the calibration current according to your quality system. Record the settings used for any test that must be repeated later.
