Siglent SDL1020X 200 W 150 V 30 A DC Electronic Load

SDL1020X is a single-channel Siglent programmable DC electronic load rated 150 V, 30 A and 200 W, with CC, CV, CR and CP modes, 0.1 mV / 0.1 mA readback resolution, a 3.5 inch colour display and built-in RS232, USB and LAN interfaces.

Load a power source the way the real application will

An electronic load sinks current from a supply under test. In constant-current mode the SDL1020X draws a fixed current regardless of terminal voltage, in constant-voltage mode it holds a fixed voltage, in constant-resistance mode it behaves like a fixed resistance (0.03 Ω to 10 kΩ) and in constant-power mode it dissipates a set wattage up to 200 W. Siglent lists power supplies, battery and handheld device design, industry, LED lighting and automotive electronics as target uses.

Dynamic mode switches between two levels (A and B) in continuous, pulsed or toggled fashion up to 25 kHz in CC mode and 12.5 kHz in CP mode, with an adjustable current rise time of 0.001 to 2.5 A/µs. A list function holds up to 100 steps and the program function 50 groups of steps for automatic pass/fail test sequences.

SDL1020X, SDL1020X-E and the 300 W models

The datasheet pairs each power class with an economy version. SDL1020X and SDL1020X-E are 150 V/30 A/200 W; SDL1030X and SDL1030X-E are 150 V/30 A/300 W. The base SDL1020X offers 0.1 mV / 0.1 mA measurement resolution and ±(0.05 percent + 0.05 percent FS) current accuracy, while the -E version has 1 mV / 1 mA readback resolution and ±(0.1 percent + 0.1 percent FS) current accuracy. Standard accessories are a USB cable, quick start guide, calibration certificate and power cord; a 30 A test lead (AWG 10, M6/M6, 1010 mm, 150 V) is optional.

Connection and safety notes

Use heavy-gauge leads such as the optional 30 A lead for high-current tests and connect the 4-wire sense leads at the device under test to remove lead voltage drop. Remember the 0.15 V and 0.9 V minimum operating voltages: below them the load cannot sink the full current. The load turns off and shows a prompt when OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP or reverse-voltage protection acts. Siglent specifies the unit for 0 to 40 °C input rating, so leave airflow around it.

Testing supplies, batteries and LED drivers

Power-supply repair benches use constant-current and dynamic modes to check regulation and transient response; battery rooms use the discharge function to measure capacity; solar and UPS service teams can load small DC sources and chargers. The 200 W, 150 V, 30 A envelope suits laboratory-scale equipment rather than large industrial banks. The datasheet gives no environmental or hazardous-area rating beyond the temperature figures.

Selection and installation notes

An electronic load is selected from the voltage, current and power of the source under test, and from the modes needed. Use leads rated for the full current with the shortest practical length, use remote sensing where the voltage drop matters, check the heat sink airflow and do not exceed the power rating at high voltage. Start tests at a low current and increase in steps, especially with batteries and supplies that have current limiting.
