Tektronix MSO44B 4 Series B 4-Channel Mixed Signal Oscilloscope

Description

MSO44B is the four-FlexChannel model of the Tektronix 4 Series B MSO, a mixed signal oscilloscope with a 12-bit ADC, a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 optically bonded display and a choice of 200 MHz, 350 MHz, 500 MHz, 1 GHz or 1.5 GHz analog bandwidth. Each FlexChannel input carries either one analog signal or eight digital signals.

A 12-bit scope for power, drive and embedded-controller work

The 12-bit ADC gives 12 bits of vertical resolution at 3.125 GS/s and up to 16 bits in High Res mode at 125 MS/s or below, with 6.25 GS/s on every analog and digital channel and 31.25 Mpoints standard record length (62.5 Mpoints optional). Typical waveform capture rate exceeds 500,000 waveforms per second, and FastFrame segments memory at up to 5,000,000 waveforms per second.

Option bundles add serial decode (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, SENT, USB 2.0, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and more), power analysis with switching loss and SOA, three-phase analysis, and a 50 MHz arbitrary function generator. A 4-digit DVM and 8-digit trigger counter are free with product registration, as printed.

Ordering: bandwidth and bundles

Order MSO44B with one bandwidth option, 4-BW-200 to 4-BW-1500, which can be upgraded later by licence. Bundles come as Starter, Pro and Ultimate in 1-year or perpetual licences (for example 4-STARTER-PER). The instrument ships with one passive probe per channel (TPP0250, TPP0500B or TPP1000 according to bandwidth), a power cord, embedded help and a calibration certificate, with a one-year warranty on instrument and probes. A 7U RM4 rackmount kit is optional.

Operating notes

Leave 50.8 mm clearance on the right side and rear for cooling. The 50 Ω path is limited to 5 VRMS, so use the 1 MΩ path or a suitable probe for higher voltages, and note the datasheet limits Measurement CAT II to 300 V. If an HDMI monitor is used it must be attached before the scope is powered on.

Typical uses in Gulf engineering and service labs

Power electronics and drive repair centres use the power measurement bundles; automotive and genset controller work uses CAN, CAN FD and LIN decode; embedded design labs use the digital FlexChannels. It is a lab instrument rated 0 to +50 °C, with no ingress or hazardous-area rating printed.

Probes and related items

The included TPP series passive probes can be supplemented with TLP058 logic probes (8 to 32 digital channels on this model), RM4 rackmount kit and software bundles. The six-channel MSO46B uses the same datasheet. See the Portable Test and Measurement category.
