Verderflex Rapide Peristaltic Tube Pump

Description

Overview

The Verderflex Rapide pump is a compact industrial peristaltic tube pump made by Verder. It can be installed as a standalone unit or built into a system such as a printing press or a packaged skid. Verder describes the range as having a heavy-duty aluminium housing and an IP55 gear motor. The pump uses a thick-walled tube, which lets it handle abrasive, corrosive and viscous fluids. Across the range, flow rates reach 1,020 l/h (4.49 GPM), the maximum discharge pressure is 2 bar (29 PSI) and the maximum liquid temperature is 85°C (185°F). The Rapide is a tube pump. It is not a lubricated hose pump of the kind sold in the Verderflex Dura and VF ranges.

Seven Star LLC, an industrial supplier in Muscat, sources the Verderflex Rapide peristaltic tube pump and its replacement tubes on request for water treatment, chemical and general industrial users in Oman and the wider GCC. Lead time is confirmed at quotation.

Operating Principle

The Verderflex Rapide pump works on the peristaltic principle. The liquid is fully contained inside a flexible tube and does not touch any moving part. A rotor fitted with rollers passes along the tube and compresses it, which pushes the liquid in front of the roller forward as a positive displacement. Behind the roller the tube springs back to its round shape because of the elasticity of the tube material. This recovery creates suction and refills the tube for the next roller.

Since the tube is the only part in contact with the liquid, the pump has no mechanical seal, no valves and no diaphragm in the liquid path. Flow is proportional to rotor speed. The manual lists fixed continuous speeds between about 60 and 220 rpm depending on the model, and Verder states that the pump is easily controlled by an external inverter (VFD) when variable flow is needed.

Engineering Design of the Verderflex Rapide

The Verderflex Rapide pump combines a pump head, an aluminium housing and an IP55 gear motor in one compact unit. According to the operating manual, the pump head of the standard Rapide has three main parts: the rotor with rollers that produces the peristaltic action, a transparent front cover that lets the operator check pump operation and direction of rotation, and tube clamps that hold the tube in place and can be adjusted. The manual gives flow rates up to 840 l/h for this version.

The Rapide S version adds a lower section with U-shaped tube clamps and a tube saddle, and is listed with flow rates up to 1,020 l/h and multi-channel pump head options. An optional tube saddle status detection (SSD) is described for the Rapide S. Tube materials named by Verder for the range are Verderprene for general purpose use and silicone for applications that need high sterility. The manual also lists Tygon and Viton tubes for chemical duties. FDA and USP certificates are listed for the range.

Key Features

The main points of the Verderflex Rapide tube pump range, as published by Verder:

  • Industrial peristaltic tube pump with roller rotor. The liquid touches only the inside of the tube.
  • Flow rates up to 1,020 l/h (4.49 GPM) on the largest model, R17S.
  • Maximum discharge pressure of 2 bar (29 PSI) on all models.
  • Maximum liquid temperature of 85°C (185°F).
  • Heavy-duty aluminium housing with IP55 gear motor.
  • Thick-walled tube with bore sizes up to 19 mm (0.75 in) and wall thickness up to 4.8 mm (0.19 in).
  • Verderprene and silicone tube, with FDA and USP certificates listed.
  • Easily integrated into existing equipment and controlled by external inverters (VFDs).

Industrial Applications

Verder lists the Verderflex Rapide pump for the transfer and dosing of chemical solutions, fine slurry, inks, dyes, additives and other dosing fluids. The operating manual names printing production, dispensing and industrial detergent applications for the standard Rapide, and chemical dosing for the Rapide S. The range is also offered for building into OEM equipment, where the compact pump head and gear motor fit inside a machine or skid.

In Oman and the GCC, typical uses are chemical dosing in water and wastewater treatment, additive and dye transfer in process plants, and detergent dispensing in industrial cleaning systems. The 2 bar pressure limit must be respected. Duties with higher discharge pressure or large slurry flows need a hose pump instead of a tube pump. Seven Star LLC can quote the Rapide model and tube material that match the liquid, flow and pressure of the application.

About brand
Verder has made industrial pumps since 1959, with its base in Vleuten, Netherlands. Buyers usually meet the pumps under family names: Verderflex for peristaltic pumps and Verderair for air-operated diaphragm pumps. Seven Star LLC lists Verder pumps from both families and supplies them, with wear parts such as hoses and diaphragms, to process plants in Oman.

Verderflex and Verderair pumps listed here

The Verderflex Dura 35 is a peristaltic hose pump, and the Verderflex Rapide is a smaller peristaltic pump from the same family. The Verder VA25 is a Verderair air-operated double diaphragm pump. The manufacturer also builds magnetic drive centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, dosing pumps and high-pressure piston diaphragm pumps under other Verder family names.

Where Verder pumps are used

The manufacturer lists chemicals, water and wastewater, mining, oil and gas, food and beverage, pharma and pulp and paper among its industries. Hose pumps handle abrasive slurries and dosing duties, and diaphragm pumps handle transfer of chemicals and solids-laden liquids.

Ordering Verder pumps and parts: what we need

Send the pump type code and serial number from the nameplate. For a Verderflex hose, state the pump size and the hose material. For a Verderair pump, state the body, diaphragm, ball and seat materials. For a new pump, give the liquid, flow, pressure and temperature. We quote for buyers across the GCC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Verderflex Rapide a tube pump or a hose pump?
Verder describes the Rapide as an industrial peristaltic tube pump. A rotor with rollers compresses a thick-walled tube inside an aluminium housing. It is not a lubricated high-pressure hose pump. The maximum discharge pressure of the Rapide range is 2 bar (29 PSI), and higher pressure duties need a hose pump from another range.
What flow rates does the Verderflex Rapide range cover?
According to Verder, maximum flow depends on the model. It runs from about 0.41 GPM on the R2S to 4.49 GPM, equal to 1,020 l/h, on the R17S. The operating manual gives up to 840 l/h for the standard Rapide head and up to 1,020 l/h for the Rapide S head.
What tube sizes and materials are available for the Rapide pump?
Verder lists maximum tube bores from 8 mm (0.31 in) on the R2S up to 19 mm (0.75 in) on the R17S, with wall thickness between 2.4 mm and 4.8 mm. The tube materials named for the range are Verderprene and silicone. The manual also lists Tygon and Viton tubes for chemical fluids.
Can the flow of a Verderflex Rapide pump be adjusted?
Flow is proportional to rotor speed. Each model is offered with fixed gear motor speeds, for example 68, 118, 158 or 220 rpm on the R17S. Verder also states that the Rapide is easily controlled by an external inverter (VFD), which allows the speed and therefore the flow to be varied in operation.
