Pepperl+Fuchs UB2000-F42-U-V15 Ultrasonic Sensor
Description
UB2000-F42-U-V15 2 m ultrasonic sensor with 0 to 10 V output
The UB2000-F42-U-V15 is a rectangular ultrasonic sensor from Pepperl+Fuchs with a sensing range of 60 to 2000 mm and a 0 to 10 V analog output. Its F42 housing is 80 x 80 mm and about 34 mm deep, made of ABS, and the settings are taught using two membrane keys or a teach input. A selectable sound cone width lets it work close to walls and structures, with an unusually small dead band of 60 mm.
In the part number, UB is the rectangular ultrasonic series, 2000 the sensing range in millimetres, F42 the rectangular housing, U the 0 to 10 V analog output and V15 an M12 5-pin plug.
Seven Star LLC supplies this sensor in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

Teach-in and sound cone adjustment on the UB2000-F42-U-V15
The analog characteristic is set by the evaluation limits A1 and A2. Hold the A1 key for more than two seconds, place the target at the desired near distance, and press briefly to store it; repeat with the A2 key for the far point. A yellow LED flashes quickly when the target is detected, and the red LED shows if it is not recognised. Alternatively, wire the teach input to -UB for A1 and +UB for A2.
The beam width can be chosen as wide or narrow. A narrow cone reduces false echoes from nearby walls or pipe flanges, while a wide cone is more tolerant for uneven surfaces. The default setting uses A1 at 90 mm, A2 at 2000 mm and a wide sound lobe.
System fit and related parts
The UB2000-F42-U-V15 fits tank level, stacker height, roll diameter and loop control where a 0 to 10 V signal is used. Siblings in the same housing include the UB2000-F42-I-V15 with current output and the UB2000-F42-E5-V15, E6, E7 with switching outputs. For short range in M30, see the UC500-30GM-IUR2-V15.
Selection and ordering checklist
- Distance range and dead band: nearest target must be beyond 60 mm.
- Target shape and surface, and wide or narrow sound cone needed.
- 0 to 10 V versus 4 to 20 mA input on the controller.
- Supply 17 to 30 V DC.
- IP54 protection suits indoor or sheltered use only.
- Synchronization if multiple sensors point at one area.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the UB2000-F42-U-V15
Mount with four screws through the housing corners, aim the transducer square to the target and keep the sound cone clear of brackets. After teaching A1 and A2, verify the 0 to 10 V output at both ends with a voltmeter. Dirt and condensation on the transducer cover will reduce the range, so clean it on schedule.
Because the housing is IP54 rather than a sealed M30 type, shield it from jets, heavy rain and direct sun.
Using the 0 to 10 V output of the UB2000-F42-U-V15
A 0 to 10 V signal is more sensitive to cable length and electrical noise than a current loop, so keep the cable of the UB2000-F42-U-V15 short, screened and away from motor and drive cables. The load must be above 1 kΩ, which most PLC analog inputs satisfy, and the common (-UB) of the sensor must share a reference with the controller to avoid offset errors.
The output follows a rising ramp, a falling ramp or a zero-line mode between A1 and A2. Choose the ramp that gives the controller the intuitive direction, for example higher voltage for a fuller tank. Leave a reserve at both ends of the range, because the dead band of 60 mm and the temperature drift of ± 1 % mean the extreme values are not perfectly stable.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
The UB2000-F42-U-V15 is used for tank and silo level, pallet and stack height, and web diameter measurement in water, cement, packaging and logistics operations in Oman. Temperature compensation helps in hot sheds, but avoid shimmering hot air plumes in the sound path.

About brand
Pepperl+Fuchs is a German manufacturer of industrial sensors and explosion protection equipment, founded in 1945 in Mannheim by Walter Pepperl and Ludwig Fuchs as a radio repair shop. Defective transformers led them into manufacturing, and the company developed its first proximity switch in the late 1950s. Pepperl+Fuchs is headquartered in Mannheim and is a pioneer of intrinsically safe electrical equipment for hazardous areas.
Seven Star LLC lists Pepperl+Fuchs sensors, isolated barriers, power supplies and hazardous-area mobile devices, and supplies them to instrument and automation teams in Oman by exact model designation.

Where Pepperl+Fuchs equipment is used
Isolated barriers sit between field instruments in Zone 0 or Zone 1 and the DCS or safety system in refineries, gas plants and chemical works. NAMUR sensors report valve position and machine states in classified areas. Photoelectric sensors and LiDAR scanners work in conveying, packaging, warehousing and vehicle guidance. Ex-rated tablets and phones are carried on operator rounds and maintenance jobs.

Ordering Pepperl+Fuchs parts: what we need
Send the complete model designation as printed on the device, including every suffix; a single letter can change the supply voltage or the output type. Add the part number if the label shows one. For barriers, tell us the field device and signal type, the number of channels and whether the safety loop needs a SIL-assessed module. For mobile devices, state the zone or division and the regional radio version.
