Leybold 960 181V SOGEVAC SV 16 D Oil-Sealed Rotary Vane Pump

A quiet 16 m3/h pump with integrated gas ballast for laboratories and instruments

The Leybold 960 181V is the SOGEVAC SV 16 D with a UL/CSA world three-phase motor and an integrated gas ballast valve. In the SOGEVAC range the D line sits beside the B pumps with a narrower focus: it reaches an ultimate total pressure of 0.5 mbar, weighs 25 kg and keeps the noise level at 59 dB(A) or below, which makes it a bench or skid pump for analytical, laboratory and light production use. Nominal pumping speed is 16.0 m3/h (9.4 cfm) at 50 Hz and 18.7 m3/h (11.0 cfm) at 60 Hz.

The suffix V in the part number is part of the code and must be written in full on orders. The same SV 16 D body is also offered as SV 16 DI and, in a larger size, as SV 25 D, each with its own part numbers.

Other voltages and frequencies and special oil fillings are upon request. The SV 16 DI and SV 25 D or DI pumps have different published data, for example an ultimate pressure of 0.1 mbar for the SV 16 DI and a nominal 25.0 m3/h for the SV 25 DI, so do not substitute one for another by name alone.

Operation and installation notes

• The oil circuit is designed for continuous operation at high inlet pressure from atmosphere down to ultimate pressure, with an integrated anti-suckback valve and oil mist separation of over 99.9 percent in the SOGEVAC range.
• Protection is IP 21-F, so keep the pump indoors and away from dripping liquid.
• The three-phase pump is delivered connected for the high voltage, and the catalogue footnote requires the motor terminal board connections to be changed for low-voltage operation.
• Dimensional drawings show space for exhaust filter change, the gas ballast valve and the oil sight glass and drain.

Applications

Typical uses printed for the SV 16 D and neighbouring models include oil purification, drying and degassing, plastic and rubber injection presses, oxygen applications and analytical instruments. The IP 21 enclosure and 25 kg weight suit laboratory benches, small test stands and instrument backing lines more than outdoor plant. In a warm region respect the 40 degrees C ambient ceiling and check that the lab or cabinet can remove the heat of the 0.75 kW motor.

Selection and installation notes

A vacuum pump is selected from the pumping speed, the ultimate pressure and the gases or vapours it will handle. Use the oil grade the maker names, check the oil level before starting, connect the exhaust to a safe place and fit an oil mist filter where needed, use a trap or filter ahead of the pump for dust and vapour and warm the pump before pumping condensable vapour. Service the oil and filters on the schedule in the manual.
