Leybold 112 86 TRIVAC D 40 B Two-Stage Rotary Vane Pump

Description

The TRIVAC D 40 B: a classic two-stage pump for high-vacuum backing and process duty

Leybold 112 86 is the TRIVAC D 40 B with a three-phase motor. TRIVAC is the name Leybold gives to its two-stage rotary vane pumps, and the D 40 B delivers a nominal 46 m3/h (27 cfm) at 50 Hz and 55 m3/h (32.5 cfm) at 60 Hz with a DN 40 KF intake. Its two-stage design reaches an ultimate partial pressure of 10-4 mbar and an ultimate total pressure of 2 x 10-3 mbar or less without gas ballast, which suits it for evacuating chambers to the medium-to-high vacuum range and for backing turbomolecular, diffusion and Roots pumps.

This part number is the version for 200-240 V (200 V IE3) and 380-400 V (380-400 V IE3) at 50 Hz and 200-240 V (208-240 V IE3) and 400-480 V (416-480 V IE3) at 60 Hz. The size above, the D 65 B, uses code 112 96; the catalogue dimension table gives the same overall dimensions except for dimension a, which is 214 mm instead of 136 mm.

Using the pump: gas ballast, filters and protection

Two-stage pumps are sensitive to what comes in with the gas, so the accessory list is part of the specification. A dust filter or adsorption trap in a filter pot FH 40-65 protects the vanes from particles and aggressive vapours, an AK condensate trap on the exhaust side collects condensate, and the chemical oil filter CF 40-65 cleans the oil when solvents are pumped. The gas ballast inlet uses the M 16 x 1.5 connector to DN 16 KF. The catalogue refers to a separate paragraph on motor dependent data for TRIVAC B pumps for the protection class and for other motors, so confirm the motor, plug and enclosure on the order.

Typical uses in industry

As general engineering guidance, two-stage pumps of this class serve vacuum furnaces, coating and lamp or tube production, leak detection and mass spectrometer fore-vacuum, freeze drying and as backing pumps for turbomolecular and Roots systems. At 40 to 55 m3/h a D 40 B is a common size for a medium vacuum chamber of up to a few hundred litres, and its water vapour tolerance of 40 mbar helps when moisture is released from the product. Keep ambient air between 12 and 40 degrees C and provide room around the 720 mm length for oil level inspection and filter service.

Give us the motor voltage, whether ATEX is needed and which filters you want, and we will line up the right TRIVAC code. Other pumps are listed in the pumps category.

Selection and installation notes

A vacuum pump is selected from the pumping speed, the ultimate pressure and the gases or vapours it will handle. Use the oil grade the maker names, check the oil level before starting, connect the exhaust to a safe place and fit an oil mist filter where needed, use a trap or filter ahead of the pump for dust and vapour and warm the pump before pumping condensable vapour. Service the oil and filters on the schedule in the manual.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

About brand

Leybold is a German vacuum technology company, founded in Cologne in 1850 by Ernst Leybold and part of the Atlas Copco Group since 2016. Its catalogue covers rotary vane, screw, dry and turbomolecular vacuum pumps, vacuum systems, gauges and components for industrial and research processes.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list selected Leybold pumps with the official catalogue pages for industrial and laboratory users in Oman and the GCC.

Leybold product series

SOGEVAC single-stage oil-sealed rotary vane pumps on this site include the SV 16 D, SV 25 B, SV 100 B and SV 220 B, and the SV 40 ATEX Category 2 pump for gas group IIB+H2. Two-stage rotary vane pumps include the NEO D 25 and the TRIVAC D 40 B, and the TRIVAC D 16 B-Ex is an explosion-protected version.

The VACUBE VQ 400 i and VQ 700 i are oil-sealed screw vacuum pumps with variable speed drive for larger volume flows. The catalogue numbers (for example 960 250) identify the exact pump variant and motor.

Where Leybold pumps are used

Vacuum packaging and food processing, drying and degassing, coating, metallurgy and heat treatment, transformer and power engineering work, chemical processes, laboratories and analytical instruments. ATEX versions serve areas where explosive gases may be pumped.

Ordering Leybold pumps: what we need

Send the Leybold catalogue number from the nameplate, or the pumping speed, ultimate pressure, gas or vapour being pumped, motor voltage and frequency, and any ATEX requirement. For service, state the pump model and serial number so the right oil, filters and kits can be quoted.
