Kaeser ASV BSV CSV Rotary Screw Vacuum Packages

Description

Rotary screw vacuum packages from 4.0 to 15.7 m³/min

The Kaeser ASV, BSV and CSV series are ready-to-connect rotary screw vacuum pump packages for low vacuum, with intake capacities of 4.0 to 15.7 m³/min and an ultimate vacuum of 20 mbar (a). A purpose-developed vacuum airend with SIGMA PROFILE rotors uses single-stage generation and cooling fluid injection for cooling, rotor sealing and bearing lubrication. Airend speed is matched through a V-belt drive with automatic belt tensioning, so the large airend runs slowly, which extends the life of connected parts and keeps noise low. Typical duties are extraction systems, packaging and filling machines, drying, degassing and filtration.

All models reach a maximum vacuum of 20 mbar (a) according to the brochure.

Gas ballast, cooling and installation

A gas ballast unit raises the pump tolerance to water vapour and prevents condensation forming in the suction chamber, which matters for drying and degassing duties. An efficient cooling air system keeps power reserves available at high ambient temperatures and draws air in slowly to reduce noise. The package is delivered complete and ready for connection, which reduces planning, installation, documentation and commissioning work, and all service-related parts have protective grilles. The vacuum airends are made at the Kaeser plant in Coburg, Germany.

Reading the capacity figures

Intake capacity of a vacuum pump falls as the vacuum deepens, so a single volume figure is misleading. The brochure therefore lists capacity at 500, 300 and 100 mbar (a) inlet pressure. The ASV 41, for instance, moves 4.7 m³/min at 500 mbar (a) and 4.0 m³/min at 100 mbar (a), while the CSV 151 holds 15.7 m³/min at 500 and 300 mbar (a) and 14.7 at 100 mbar (a). For a duty that runs near the ultimate vacuum, size from the 100 mbar (a) column and allow margin for pipework losses and for the vapour load of the process.

Selecting a vacuum package

Choose the model from the intake capacity at the vacuum level the process actually runs at, not from the free-air figure: the table shows capacity at 500, 300 and 100 mbar (a). Confirm the medium and its water vapour or dust content, the ambient temperature, supply voltage and the connection sizes against your pipework. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes the exact model. The brochure is attached and further pumps are listed under Pumps.

How the Kaeser ASV/BSV/CSV rotary screw vacuum package works

A rotary screw vacuum pump has two meshing rotors in a housing. As the rotors turn, they draw gas in at the inlet, trap it between the rotor profiles and carry it to the outlet, which makes a vacuum on the intake side. In the ASV, BSV and CSV packages the airend is single-stage, and cooling fluid is injected to cool the gas, seal the gap between the rotors and lubricate the bearings. The airend is driven by an electric motor through a V-belt with automatic tensioning, so the airend runs more slowly than the motor. The fluid is separated from the exhaust air before it leaves the package.

Where the ASV/BSV/CSV series is used

  • Central vacuum and extraction systems.
  • Packaging and filling machines.
  • Drying and degassing processes.
  • Filtration and vacuum holding.
  • Plants that need a continuous supply of low vacuum.

Selection checklist for the ASV/BSV/CSV series

  • Intake capacity needed at the working vacuum, for example 4.0 to 15.7 m3/min.
  • Working inlet pressure, because capacity falls as the vacuum gets deeper.
  • Ultimate vacuum of 20 mbar (a).
  • Motor size from 7.5 kW to 30 kW.
  • Vacuum connection size, DN65, DN80 or DN100.
  • Package dimensions and mass for the available space.
  • Gas ballast, when water vapour is present.
  • Ambient temperature and ventilation of the room.
  • Dust and liquid protection ahead of the inlet.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Install the package on a level floor with enough space for cooling air and for service access. Connect the vacuum line with an inlet filter or separator suited to the process, and pipe the exhaust air to a safe place. Check the rotation and the cooling fluid level before the first start. Service parts are behind protective grilles, and the belt tension is adjusted automatically. Follow the maintenance schedule from the maker for the fluid, the filters and the belt.

Requesting a quotation for the Kaeser ASV/BSV/CSV

Send the capacity, the working vacuum and the application. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

Why gas ballast matters

Water vapour can condense inside the pump when the gas is compressed. A gas ballast unit adds a little air to avoid this, which protects the pump in drying and degassing work.

Matching capacity to the process

Check the capacity at the vacuum level that the process really runs at, using the three values listed in the table, instead of the highest figure on the data sheet.

Records and service

Keep the model, the serial number and the service history with the maintenance records.

Planning a vacuum system with the right information

A good enquiry states the process, the vacuum level, the volume of gas to be removed and the amount of dust or vapour in it. It also gives the number of pumps wanted, the electrical supply and the room conditions. With these details the supplier can pick the model whose capacity curve matches the duty, and can suggest filters and separators for the inlet.

Cooling air and room ventilation

The package is cooled by air, so the room needs enough fresh air and a way to remove the warm exhaust. A hot room lowers the margin of the cooling system.

About brand

Kaeser Kompressoren is a German manufacturer of compressors, blowers and compressed air systems. Carl Kaeser Sr. established the company as a machine workshop in Coburg, Germany, on 27 June 1919, and the first reciprocating compressor followed in 1948. Today the range covers rotary screw and reciprocating compressors, rotary screw, turbo and rotary lobe blowers, compressor controllers, air treatment and the MOBILAIR portable compressors.

Kaeser compressor and blower range

The rotary screw compressors use the SIGMA PROFILE airend and the SIGMA CONTROL 2 controller, from compact units up to the large series for 515 kW, with oil-free compression models for sensitive applications. Rotary screw vacuum packages and several blower types for process air and aeration complete the machinery side of the Kaeser catalogue.

Compressed air treatment and ancillaries

Kaeser air treatment covers refrigeration and desiccant dryers, filters and activated carbon adsorbers, condensate drains and condensate treatment, plus air receivers and the SIGMA AIR MANAGER master controller. Send the free air delivery, working pressure, ambient temperature and required air quality to have the right Kaeser model confirmed before an offer is issued.
