One tractor for oxy-fuel, plasma and mechanized welding

The Koike Aronson IK-12 NEXT is a rail-guided carriage that replaces the IK-12 Max3. It keeps the familiar 1-9/16 in post bar, so existing IK-12 torch sets fit, and adds a digital control panel and an arc control switch that signals a plasma or welding power source. One machine can therefore strip and bevel plate with oxy-fuel, cut with plasma including programmable piercing, or carry a MIG torch for straight butt and fillet welds.

A single function dial and data dial set all parameters, with speeds shown in imperial or metric units. The patented creep button slows the carriage at the start and end of thick-plate cuts, and the patented underside geometry deflects up to 45% of radiated heat away from the machine.

Choosing a kit and accessories

The S-100 single-torch kit is the common choice for plate stripping and compound bevels. SP versions add mechanical torch height control and a plate tracker that holds the torch at a constant distance from the plate for more accurate bevels. The S-200 and SP-200 carry two torches, and the SP-300 holds two torches on a single tracker with a fixed angle for Y and X bevel preparation. Kits include the unit, torch set, 6 ft rail, size 0, 1 and 2 cutting tips and a Safety-Z coupling set. For very thick sections Koike offers the 300L torch kit, rated to 10 in (254 mm) plate.

Accessories include a heat-resistant heavy-duty rail ZS30407 for plate over about 2 in, the circle cutting attachment ZS31858 for diameters of 400 to 2400 mm, vertical slide bars, a twin torch attachment, extended post bar, cross bars up to 2500 mm and Snap Valves for single-action gas on/off.

For welding the customer supplies the welding power source and remote pendant; for plasma the plasma unit is customer supplied. The arc control toggle switch can be set to on/off or momentary operation, and a weaving control connector sends the start signal to the optional weaver attachment.
