GCE X21 Original 0767937 Cutting and Welding Set

A complete gas welding and cutting kit in one case

The GCE X21 Original 0767937 is a complete oxy-fuel kit built around the X21 combined welding and cutting torch. It is packed in a red metal case and contains a shank, a cutting attachment, welding attachments in six sizes, three HA311 cutting nozzles and the tools needed to keep them running. X21 is a pressure torch (type II) designed to EN ISO 5172, with the gases mixed in the head, which GCE notes increases safety against flashback.

With one kit a maintenance team can weld thin steel, cut plate, braze and heat parts for bending, which makes it a common choice for workshops, shipyards and plant maintenance.

What the X21 system can do

GCE lists welding up to 14 mm, cutting of carbon steel up to 500 mm, circle, hole and bevel cutting, rivet washing, braze welding, brazing, heating, bending and straightening, gouging and flame cleaning. With propane as fuel, all of these processes except gas welding are possible, so a kit used for welding needs acetylene.

Handles and attachments are colour-marked: red for fuel gas and blue for oxygen. Welding attachments are forged from copper, and the full X21 range offers eight inserts from 40 to 1250 l/h, plus flexible attachments for hard-to-reach joints.

Safety equipment to add

A kit like this still needs cylinder regulators for oxygen and fuel gas, twin hose, and flashback arrestors at the regulator and, where required, at the torch. Leak-test every connection before lighting, and follow the GCE instructions for opening and closing the valves in the right order.

For dedicated heavy cutting with a long torch, the X511 Original cutting torch is an alternative.

The six welding attachments in the kit are chosen from the X21 welding range, which runs from size 0 at 40 l/h for 0.2 to 0.5 mm sheet to size 6 at 1250 l/h for 9 to 14 mm. Select the smallest size that gives full fusion, because an oversized flame overheats thin material and wastes gas. The cutting guide in the case keeps the nozzle at a steady height for straight cuts.

Replace damaged O-rings and clean the cutting nozzle seats before storing the kit, and keep the case closed so dirt and moisture cannot reach the attachment threads and nozzles.
