Kentec Sigma Si K911000M8 6-Lamp Extinguishant Status Unit

The Kentec Sigma Si K911000M8 is a six-lamp, surface mounted extinguishant status indicator that repeats the state of a Sigma XT series extinguishant control panel at a remote point, such as outside the protected room. The datasheet DS41 states that the range is certified compliant with BS EN12094-1 when used with Sigma XT control equipment. K911000M8 is the basic model; versions with a mode select keyswitch, manual release and ten-lamp display are available under different codes.

Product overview

The status unit shows detailed indication of the panel status with high brightness LEDs and has a countdown timer that shows the time remaining until release. It connects by a four wire cable carrying data and power, with a monitored data connection, and has an internal buzzer and internal fault diagnosis indicators. Terminals are easy to access inside a robust enclosure. Up to seven status units can be connected on the same panel link, and weatherproof IP65 versions are available for outdoor or wash-down areas.

Choosing a model

Decide which controls are needed at the remote point. K911000M8 has indication only; add the keyswitch for mode select, the protected manual release switch, or both. For outdoor or damp locations choose the matching W-prefix weatherproof model. The datasheet marks the ten-lamp codes as not suitable for the XT+ family and ECU products, so check compatibility with your panel before ordering.

Installation notes

The status unit takes its supply from the panel link, within a 21 to 30 V DC range, and a single data run of up to 1200 m is allowed. Man-1097 covers the weatherproof status unit. The panel datasheets note limits on how many status indicators can be powered from the panel auxiliary output, so confirm the supply arrangement in the panel documents.

Entrance doors to protected rooms, corridors and security desks, where a clear imminent release or released signal and a hold or manual release control are needed outside the hazard area.

Selection and installation notes

A fire alarm or extinguishant control panel is selected from the number of zones or areas, the devices to be connected, the standby battery duration and the standard the project requires. It must be designed, installed, programmed and commissioned by competent fire system engineers to the code and authority rules for the project, with a cause and effect plan, correct battery sizing, cable of the specified type and a full test of every device and output before handover. Confirm the certification and listing needed for the project with the authority before purchase. Keep the commissioning records and the access codes with the site documents.
