Horiba LAQUA WQ-330-K 3-Channel Handheld Water Quality Meter
Description
WQ-330-K is the three-channel meter of the LAQUA WQ-300 smart handheld series. It runs up to three digital sensors at once, such as pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen, on a 3.5-inch colour display, stores 10,000 records and can move data over USB or a wireless SD card.
One handheld for a multi-parameter water survey
The WQ-300 concept is a meter body plus snap-on sensors. A pH, EC, ion or ORP sensor head (or a DO sensor) plugs into a push-pull connector, and the meter recognises it automatically. Because the three channels share one display, a user can read pH, conductivity and oxygen side by side, with calibration status shown per sensor, instead of juggling three meters. The WQ-330-K is the bare-meter kit; the sensors are chosen separately, which the product page describes as up to 35 meter-and-sensor kit combinations.
Sensor condition is part of the display. For a pH head the manual grades average slope (95.0 to 105.0 % excellent, 85.0 to 94.9 % very good, 80.0 to 84.9 % good), for an EC head the average cell constant, and for a DO sensor the membrane condition, which also tells you when to change the cap. An LED on the sensor lights as a stability indicator, so you can read it without looking at the screen.
Meter features from the product page and manual
- Triple channel; up to 3 simultaneous calibrations and measurements; automatic sensor recognition.
- 10,000 records with date and time; sample ID setting; auto or manual data log; USB or wireless transfer.
- Auto stable, auto hold and real-time modes; calibration alarm up to 400 days; auto power off up to 60 minutes.
- Seven display languages: English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese.
- Accepts BNC electrodes (ion-selective, ORP) through the optional 300-BNC conversion connector.

Choosing the channel count and the sensors
WQ-310, WQ-320 and WQ-330 differ in the number of channels (one, two, three). Pick the WQ-330-K when a survey normally needs pH, conductivity and oxygen together, as in river, lagoon, well and effluent work. Sensor suffix -2 or -5 is the cable length in metres: 2 m for bench and shoreline, 5 m for tank and wet-well sampling.
Cartridge-type sensors (300-P-C for pH; 300-4C-C or 300-2C-C for conductivity; 300-O-C for ORP) can be replaced separately when worn. After changing an EC cartridge, enter its nominal cell constant. Please tell us the parameters you need and we will quote the meter and sensors as one package.
Setting up and keeping the sensors healthy
Plug in a sensor by aligning the arrow on its connector with the groove in the meter plug; any sensor type fits any channel. Use four AA alkaline or Ni-MH cells, or a 5 V USB source, noting that the meter does not charge cells from USB. A micro SD slot sits below the battery box, so remove the cells when changing the card. The manual advises setting the focus on the channel, placing the sensor at least 3 cm in the solution and following the on-screen calibration steps.
Calibration data can be viewed per channel in measurement mode, and the Cal Data Clear command is recommended before recalibrating. The pH head allows resolution, buffer group, calibration alarm and temperature type to be set; the EC head allows cell constant, reference temperature (15 to 30 °C) and temperature coefficient (0 to 10 %/°C, default 2.00 %/°C).
Water-quality surveys in the field
A three-channel instrument fits environmental and utility work in the Gulf: groundwater and well-field checks, treated-effluent and irrigation-water screening, desalination feed and product samples, aquaculture ponds and coastal monitoring. Salinity-corrected oxygen and temperature-compensated conductivity are particularly relevant in saline coastal samples.
