Horiba LAQUA TB220-K Portable Turbidity Meter Kit, ISO 7027

Description

TB220-K is the complete carrying-case kit of the LAQUA TB220 portable turbidity meter: an infrared nephelometric instrument that auto-ranges from 0.00 to 2000 NTU, is built to ISO 7027 and DIN EN 27027, and ships with SDVB polymer standards at 0.02, 20, 100 and 800 NTU plus four sample vials.

Turbidity you can document, from a bag in the field

The TB220 measures turbidity by the ratiometric method: an infrared LED at 860 nm lights the 10 mL sample, and a silicon photodiode compares scattered light with transmitted light. Ratiometric measurement uses both signals rather than scatter alone. Results appear as NTU with 0.01 resolution up to 19.99 NTU, 0.1 up to 199.9 NTU and 1 NTU above that, and a smiley icon tells you when the reading has settled.

The kit is built so that a first measurement needs nothing else. The four SDVB (styrene divinylbenzene) standards are in sealed vials, the four empty vials are for samples, and a small bottle of silicone oil with a cloth lets you polish scratched vial walls so they stay optically clean. A 2000-record memory with date and time stamp, a PC port for exporting and a printer port for GLP-style slips round out the instrument.

Kit, bare meter or spares

Order the TB220-K for a first purchase because it contains the calibration vials and the carrying case. The bare TB220 suits a user who already holds SDVB standards. Standard sets are available as the full four-point set, a low pair (0.02 and 20 NTU) or a high pair (100 and 800 NTU), so a team that works in one band only can buy the matching pair.

For drinking-water style work below 1 NTU calibrate all four points, and let the vial stand at least three minutes after inserting. Above 800 NTU the manual advises using the 800 NTU standard as the upper point.

Calibration, vial handling and what to avoid

Calibrate on a flat, vibration-free surface. Mix each standard by gently inverting the vial, never shaking, because air bubbles upset the reading, and check the vial glass for fingerprints. Insert the vial with the arrows aligned, close the light cover, wait for the level to stop fluctuating and press ENT. Delete earlier calibration data first, as old data otherwise affect results.

To measure, pre-rinse the vial with sample, fill to the 10 mL mark, cap, wipe, invert once or twice and seat the vial. Readings above 2000 NTU, or too little detected light, show OVER RANG and are not saved or printed. Do not measure solvent-based or flammable samples. The calibration solution contains SDVB copolymer and the vial is glass, so wash skin after contact and handle with care.

Turbidity monitoring across water treatment

Turbidity is the day-to-day indicator for filter performance, treated water, desalination pretreatment, cooling water and effluent. The product page links application notes on treated-water monitoring and desalination plants, which is the use most relevant to Gulf utilities. A readable, printable record from the field helps when a result has to be matched to a lab sample.

Selection and installation notes

Laboratory and field water analysis instruments are selected from the parameter, the range and the accuracy needed. Calibrate with fresh buffers or standards that bracket the expected readings, rinse the sensor between samples, keep the sensor wet and clean as the maker advises, record the temperature with every reading and replace sensors at the interval the manual states. Keep the calibration record with the results.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
