Mounted spherical roller bearings with set screw mounting
The Dodge S-2000 is a general-purpose, high-capacity, double-row spherical roller bearing mounted in a single-piece housing and fixed to the shaft with set screw collars. Dodge builds, seals and lubricates each unit at its Marion, North Carolina plant so it is shaft-ready out of the box, and sells it in standard and E dimensions for drop-in replacement of most brands. A choice of housing styles and seal options makes it suitable for material-handling and air-handling duties such as conveyors, fans and blowers.
Features listed by Dodge include a case-carburised inner ring that resists cracking, a 65-degree set screw spacing that holds better than 90 or 120 degree layouts, expansion capability up to 3/8 inch with field conversion between expansion and non-expansion, a reinforced polyamide cage, and a tapered seal landing that keeps seal contact when the shaft is misaligned. Selection, life and what to confirm
The catalogue calculates L10 life from the dynamic capacity C and the equivalent radial load, with recommended thrust loads of C/20 for 20 to 200 rpm, C/40 for 201 to 2,000 rpm and C/60 above 2,000 rpm. Where the radial load exceeds the maximum slip-fit load, a line-to-line to light press fit of the shaft is needed, and for heavy shock or vibration the equivalent load is increased by up to 50 percent.
