Brand:

Dodge 300-Series Mounted Ball Bearing Pillow Block

Description

A mounted ball bearing built for heavy loads at high speed

The Dodge 300-Series is a mounted ball bearing pillow block that uses larger rolling elements than the common 200-series units. Dodge positions it for air-handling, agricultural and similar duties with moderate-to-heavy loads at elevated speeds, where a mounted spherical or tapered roller bearing might add cost the application does not need. Compared with a mounted spherical roller bearing, the smaller contact area of ball rolling elements reduces friction and heat, which Dodge says helps extend lubrication life and cut maintenance. Bore sizes run from 1-7/16 to 3-15/16 inches, and the units arrive pre-assembled and pre-lubricated so they are shaft-ready out of the box.

The housing has a recessed design that keeps the set screws easy to reach, and the seal is a mechanically retained single-lip type intended to prevent seal blow-out and contamination. The set screws are angled at 65 degrees for radial and axial shaft holding power, and Dodge quotes static misalignment of plus or minus two degrees.

Selection and what to confirm

Choose the 300-Series where speed and load both rise above what a 200-series unit handles but a spherical roller bearing is not required. Confirm the shaft size and tolerance, the bolt pattern of the existing base, whether a low backing height block fits the frame, and the expected operating temperature and speed. Dodge offers an interchange and grease calculator tool through its PT Wizard site for selection support.

Documents and quotation

The attached PDF is the Dodge flyer for the 300-Series mounted ball bearing. For related rolling bearings see the Timken 22216EJW33 spherical roller bearing or browse Electric Motors and Gear Units, where bearings and motor spares are listed. Send the shaft size, current part number or nameplate data, and the duty for a quotation.
