The SKF FYTB 50 TF is an oval flanged ball bearing unit built to ISO standards. It consists of an insert bearing with an extended inner ring and set screw locking, fitted in a cast iron housing with an oval flange. The unit fits a 50 mm shaft and bolts to a machine wall or frame, which suits conveyors, fans and light machinery where the shaft passes through a plate.

According to the SKF product description, these units suit applications where the direction of rotation is constant or alternating, and they can accommodate moderate initial misalignment, but normally do not permit axial displacement. The product page lists the features as resistance to high levels of contamination, designed for high temperatures and speeds, relatively heavy loads and cost-effective.

Unit contents and sizes

The SKF catalogue lists the FYTB 50 TF as housing FYTB 510 M with Y-bearing YAR 210-2F, an optional end cover ECY 210 and a mass of 2.15 kg. The bearing is the same YAR 210-2F as in the pillow block SY 50 TF, so the load ratings (35.1 kN dynamic, 23.2 kN static, 0.98 kN fatigue limit) and the 4 000 r/min limiting speed are identical, and the housing alone is what differs. The catalogue also lists a FYTB 50 TR version with a lower limiting speed of 2 200 r/min.

The flange has a bolt centre distance of 157 mm, a flange width of 15 mm and a centring recess diameter of 101.6 mm with a depth of 3.2 mm, so the unit can be positioned against a machined opening. Overall height is 189 mm and overall length 116 mm.

Mounting and ordering notes

The set screw is M10x1 with a 5 mm hex key and a recommended tightening torque of 16.5 N m, and the recommended attachment bolt diameter is 16 mm (0.625 in). The grease fitting thread is 1/4-28 UNF and dowel pins can be used with a 127 mm distance and 20 mm axial offset. The distance from the locking device side face to the raceway centre is 32.6 mm.
