Brand:

Dodge MagnaGear XTR Gear Reducer, to 3,500,000 lb-in

Description

High-torque gear reducer for bulk material handling

The Dodge MagnaGear XTR is a power-dense heavy-duty reducer built for the toughest conveying and processing duties. It is a two- or three-stage reduction in a parallel (offset) or right-angle arrangement, with helical, bevel helical and planetary gearing. Twelve case sizes cover 100,000 to 3,500,000 lb-in of torque (11,300 to 395,000 Nm) and input ratings from 40 hp to more than 5,000 hp. Dodge names mining, aggregate, grain, power and wood products plants, and applications such as conveyors, bucket elevators, crushers and breakers, feeders, and mills and kilns.

The design is rated to AGMA, and Dodge says the bearings carry an unadjusted L10 rating more than twice that of most gear reducer makers. Large inspection covers, a magnetic oil plug, a drain valve and flat cast pads for vibration measurement make routine checks easier.

Mounting, sealing and options

The patented twin-tapered bushing system, available on sizes G100 to G390 and G600, mounts the reducer on a shaft from 2-3/16 to 8 inches and allows easy removal even after long service, while avoiding the wobble of straight-bore or shrink-disc mounts. Dodge DM moment couplings give a rigid connection to the driven shaft that carries both torque and the bending moment of the suspended drive. Other mounting options are swing bases, tunnel housings for C-face or D-flange motors, solid baseplates and top motor mounts. Cooling choices are shaft fans, electric fans and oil-to-air or oil-to-water heat exchangers.

Every unit has a dual sealing system on the input and output shafts: an inner HNBR oil seal, an outer excluder, and a purgeable grease cavity between them that meets the requirements of a taconite seal system. Inching drives provide 10 percent of normal output speed for belt positioning. Hydra-Lock desiccant breathers and reliability kits with quick fill, drain, sample ports and a sight tube are available, and an Optify sensor can be added.

Ordering and what to confirm

A model code reads case size, configuration (H horizontal), shaft type (R right angle or P parallel), solid or hollow output, left or right hand output, number of stages and ratio, for example G525HRSL3-25. Ratios run from 8 to 63. The catalogue includes service factor tables, thermal rating factors and a data checklist. Confirm before ordering: torque and service factor, thermal rating at the site ambient, shaft or foot mounting, direction of rotation and backstop, lubricant and cooling.

About brand

Dodge is an American brand of mounted bearings, gear reducers and couplings with roots in 1878, when Wallace Dodge began making wood products in Mishawaka, Indiana; the company became known for its wood split pulley and then power transmission products. Dodge passed to Reliance Electric in 1967, to Baldor in 2007 and to ABB in 2011, and became part of RBC Bearings in 2021. Its head office is in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Dodge bearings, reducers and couplings from official documents for mining, aggregate, cement and material handling users in Oman and the GCC.
