Description

Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 3500 system rack, panel mount

The 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 is the panel-mount full-size 3500 rack. It is the standard format when the monitor faces are meant to be visible on a control panel or a cabinet door, while the rear holds the I/O modules and field wiring.

The Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 is the 3500/05 System Rack ordered as a panel-mount full-size rack. The rack holds the power supplies, the Transient Data Interface and up to 14 monitor, relay, Keyphasor or gateway modules. Seven Star LLC supplies 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

Decoding 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00

Field Code in 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 Meaning (manufacturer ordering table)
A: rack size 01 19-inch rack with 14 module slots
B: mounting 01 Panel mount option, full-size rack
C: agency approval 00 None
D: reserved 00 None
E: European compliance 00 00, not listed in the current table (see below)

The final field is 00. The current Rev. N ordering table lists only 01 (CE) for the European compliance field, so a trailing 00 reads as a configuration without that option. Seven Star LLC checks the rack label before quoting, so the exact marking and revision are confirmed.

Mounting and installation of 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00

Cut the panel to the recommended opening of about 452.1 x 251.5 mm (17.80 x 9.90 in, ±1.5 mm), slide the rack in from the front, and secure it with the supplied clamps. Leave rear access for the I/O modules and cabling, plus 349.25 mm of depth behind the panel, or 422.91 mm if internal barriers will be installed.

Panel mounting is the common choice when the monitors should face operators on a control-room panel or an instrument cabinet door, with the I/O modules and field wiring hidden behind it.

Approval and compliance notes for 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00

This rack is ordered without an approval option, so where the site classification demands a marked rack the version 3500/05-01-01-01-00-00 should be considered. The panel itself and its enclosure are the customer’s responsibility, as are earthing and gland arrangements. Keep the rack nameplate with the project records, since older racks carry a final code of 00.

What goes into the rack

A 3500 rack is a passive backplane frame. The left-most positions are reserved for the 3500/15 power supplies and the 3500/20 or 3500/22M interface module, and the remaining 14 positions take main modules at the front and I/O modules at the rear (above the main module on bulkhead racks). Spares and filler items listed by the manufacturer for the rack are:

  • 125388-01 half-height module adapter (internal chassis), 125565-01 card guide, 04300111 screws (qty 3).
  • 131150-01 power supply blank front panel; 128085-01 power supply input connector cover; 04310251 screws.
  • 130768-01 full-height blank monitor cover kit (130944-01 front panel and 128031-01 I/O cover).
  • 131151-01 half-height blank front panel; 00561941 TMR/SIM jumper on the backplane.
  • 129766-01 rack installation and maintenance manual and 130432-01 field wiring diagrams.

Selection checklist for 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00

  • Check the panel cutout against the dimensions in the datasheet and the thickness of the panel for the clamps.
  • Check that rear access is available for the I/O modules and cabling.
  • Decide whether a display (for example the 3500/93) will be fitted on the panel, since it affects the layout.
  • Confirm whether a hazardous-area label is needed; this rack has approval field 00.
  • Count the module positions you need and keep a spare slot if possible for later expansion.

Rack family comparison

Part number Rack Mounting Approval option CE
3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 19-inch Rack mount None Yes
3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 19-inch Rack mount cNRTLus Div. 2 Yes
3500/05-01-02-00-00-00 19-inch Rack mount None 00
3500/05-01-03-00-00-00 19-inch Bulkhead None 00
3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 19-inch Panel mount None 00
3500/05-01-01-01-00-00 19-inch Panel mount cNRTLus Div. 2 00

Compared with 3500/05-01-01-01-00-00, this rack lacks the cNRTLus option; compared with the rack-mount 3500/05-01-02-00-00-00, it uses panel clamps instead of EIA rails.

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC

3500 racks protect gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, large motors and pumps in oil and gas, power generation, desalination and petrochemical plants in Oman and the GCC. A rack is a long-life item that may stay in service for decades, so replacement racks are usually requested during modernization or when a backplane is damaged. High ambient temperatures, dust and humid coastal air mean the installation location, cabinet ventilation and earthing quality matter as much as the rack itself.

990 and 991 2-wire transmitters 4-20 mA vibration (990) and thrust position (991) signals straight into a PLC or DCS, without a monitor rack
1900/65A, 2300 Compact monitors Protection for balance-of-plant pumps, fans and motors where a full 3500 rack is not justified

A proximity probe measures the gap to the shaft, so it sees shaft movement inside a fluid-film bearing directly. A velocity or acceleration sensor sits on the casing and suits rolling-element bearing machines. Critical turbomachinery usually carries two X-Y probes per bearing, two axial probes for thrust position and a Keyphasor probe for speed and phase.

Where Bently Nevada systems are used

In Oman and the GCC, Bently Nevada racks and probes protect gas turbines, compressors and steam turbines in gas processing, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power and desalination plants. Many installations are 3500 racks that have run for years, so most requests are for like-for-like module, probe, extension cable and proximitor replacements, plus upgrades to newer monitors.

Ordering and replacement: what we need

For probes and proximitors, send the full part number with all option digits (for example 330101-00-27-10-02-05). The digits set the probe length, cable length, connector and approvals, and the probe, cable and proximitor must match in total system length. For 3500 modules, send the module and I/O part numbers from the rack and say whether the I/O is internal or external termination, or barrier type. If a module is obsolete, we quote the replacement that Bently Nevada names and point out any configuration or firmware change.

Facts checked against Baker Hughes Bently Nevada pages and published company history, October 2026.

FAQ

Questions about the Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 Panel-Mount

Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.

01What is Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00?
It is a 3500/05 System Rack ordered as a full-size 19-inch rack with 14 module slots in the panel mount format. The ordering fields are decoded in the manufacturer's 3500/05 datasheet.
02How many modules does 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 accept?
The power supplies and the interface module occupy the far-left positions, and the remaining 14 positions accept any combination of monitor, relay, Keyphasor and gateway modules.
03What is the mounting style of 3500/05-01-01-00-00-00?
